Angulo was putting on a lot of pressure slowly but surely slowing lara down throughout the fight and to quit at that moment just seemed like a waste of all that hard work. But he must have been in tremendous pain to just quit like that so who knows.

            That's the thing.

Lara was hitting him with some BIG shots in almost every round.

Angulo fought a hell of a fight. He dropped Lara twice, and was going for the body. Great body shots.

            But he did quit.

            There is no denying that.

In a way, boxing forces people to do something unnatural. In nature, animals rarely fight to the death. They usually fight until one them backs down (or quits, as it were).

If I'm not mistaken, back in the early days of boxing, before the introduction of a limited number of rounds (first 15 and now 12), fights only ended if one guy quit or was knocked out. Since referees weren't as quick to call off a fight if a fighter was wobbly after getting back on his feet, I'd say a large portion of fights back then were determined by quitting.

Seeing his eye at the start of the round I was like, he won't finish the fight. It looked bad.

It was honorable to quit if you're talking about bareknuckle fighting back then lol.

I just have a hard time when I hear the word "quit" being used. Even when it doesn't seem that a fighter should quit and does I side with the quitter when it comes to injury. When I see the damage and result I understand.

I never stopped liking Duran, but that was quitting.

Put yourself in his shoes punk. You would've quit after the first left hand you felt in round 1 from Lara.
