If Canelo had 10x the energy he has he would have a great chance to beat Floyd. But he's too inactive to stand a chance

Castillo 1, Cotto springs to mind. Yes Floyd clearly won the fight but not in a completley dominant fashion.

Castillo or Cotto isn't known for there defense; Floyd thru alot more punches in the Cotto fight which brought down his connection %

the problem is making him miss without getting tagged. won't happen. its ok to hope and cross your fingers. but don't hold your breath.

Don't worry I'll wait................. 42-0 30ko's? When where and what kind of boxers were they, no notables? Or do they even exist? For all I know his record and resume was forge to gain credibility in the states to box and shortcut his way to title fights. Golden boy is the new don king of this era! How is canelo getting this fight this fast anyway? How many ppv's has he done? Once again I'll wait........ This guys up bringing and biography us a joke just a ploy to getting a big payday! There is nothing special about Alvarez. And whoever thinks he will create problems for Floyd " don't know s*** bout boxing" PERIOD!
Totally agree with you. While no doubt Canelo is improving, there is no logical evidence based on his previous opponents or performances for so many people to claim Canelo is going to beat Floyd let alone KO him. I think fellow Mexicans are so desperate to have one of their countryman take over the face of boxing since DLH retired, that they are speaking nonsense.

Trout is a good fighter but not a great fighter, and he narrowly won. Canelo isn't a KO artist. Right there shows based on the type of fighter he is and his best win to date, he is way over his head.

He has good defenseive skills not great imo. He does keep getting better that's what I like about him and that he takes his time. I do agree that you have to throw when Floyd is throwing. If you lead he will pick you apart.

Cotto won 2 clear rounds and maybe 3-4 total. People got so impressed that he won some clear rounds that said Floyd was in trouble. I thought Cotto was going to get diced up but, his improved defense helped him as well as the new trainer.

Being honest, Canelo doesnt have much chance because hes too young and hasnt fought top tier opponents. If Canelo is to have a chance, keys for Canelo is defense, pressure, and jab.

His defense has dramatically improved but he needs to put all of his focus in training camp trying to improve it. It doesn't matter what he does in the fight if he keeps getting countered with overhand rights all night.

He needs to put pressure on Floyd and keep it up all fight. The problem is that Canelo is a pure boxer, he doesn't use pressure that well. He needs to stalk Floyd and keep up a good pace in the fight staying active throwing a lot of punches and combos.

The one vulnerability Floyd had is the jab. Cotto was landing it at will. Canelo needs to throw it often, double up on it, and combo off it. But it needs to be his main punch since he will have the most success with it. If Cotto was able to bloody Floyd's nose with it, maybe Canelo can do more damage since he's bigger.

Edit: And the body shots Canelo wants to focus on is pointless. Floyd's weakness isn't his body, it's his head. He is always in great shape and had great stamina. He can box effectively without running. The body shots need to come but not be the main focus. Cotto was landing the jab easy and Mosely staggered him with an overhand right. His head is his weakness not the body. That's why he does the shoulder roll, to protect his head not his body.
