Fact of the matter is, Floyd could retire right now and he already had a great career, probably goes down as a Top 25 ATG. As long as he remains undefeated no one will ever be content, after Canelo it's gonna be "Mayweather is ducking Lara, Thurman" or whoever, list goes on and on. At one point he was "ducking" both Hatton and Baldomir and Brian Kenny ripped him for it, it's time people get the drift.

Floyd said he will fight every 5 months or so until his six fight deal with Showtime is up and then retire so after he fights Canelo he has 4 fights left. If he fights good fighters rated in the top 3 or 4 in the world that should but good enough. Sure he should try to please the fans but not if fans want him to do something ****** or unreasonable.. He is getting well paid so that has to be the most important thing for any boxer. If he is fighting good fighters but some fans don't think they are good enough that's too bad. When super stars like Pacquiao and Mayweather choose an opponent, no matter who it is some fans will say he he should have fought some other guy instead. They can't fight everybody.

The problem with this is that, no, he cant fight everybody but as one of the main faces of the sport he has done so very little to please the fans. His fans cant stand it(and thats how these whiny kind of threads come about) but he is known as much for the fights he didnt have as much as the ones he did...and this dude compares himself to the likes of Sugar Ray Robinson!!!!

Great fighter, but more of a product than anything else. More style than substance, and he doesnt compare too well to a few other fighters in his own era, let alone anyone elses. He has an ATG skillset, but not an ATG resume and he could have had that if he went for it. His current boss ODLH actually took on just about everyone and actively sought out challenges, had floyd done the same his popularity would be far greater than it is now.

Castillo, Corrales, Gatti, De la Hoya, Baldomir, Judah, Hatton, Marquez, Mosely, and Cotto. How is that not a great résumé? There is only one significant name out there Mayweather hasn't fought. The reason they didn't/haven't fought can be debated all day. After Canelo, he can fight any of the WW to MWs out there and still will not get credit for the competition he faced. He might as well retire.

Gatti? Baldomir? Please....and what do DLH, Marquez, Mosley and Cotto have in common? They were all way past their sell by dates. Like I said, style over substance. Be happy, the guy got rich doing it, just dont try and elevate him higher than he should be.

Nah. He should fight all of the top contenders and finish out his contract. That's the story of his career. People dismiss every contender as not good enough and gives him a fantasy win.

Settle the **** in the ring and give these young dudes a chance.

Let's be real the guy you're talking to loves floyd and is a hater that's why he is on the thread the fact that Floyd is so great in his and people like him eyes that he has to fight guys that are not even close to his weight and both fighters make a compromise and still get hated on say's it all. Lenard who everyone loves fought hagler at a catch weight, manny fought marg catch weight and had a re-hydration clause with him and cotto and dlh, I can go on and they are warriors. Floyd fight nelo no hydration clause 2 pounds less he a biotch and a coward. When he is gone I bet money this site will not be the same.

If he beats Canelo then there isn't much out there left for him.

I think the Matthysse-Garcia winner is a logical fight and likely to happen after this one.

                      Then there's the Alexander-Khan winner.

So there is options, but both of those pale in comparison to the magnitude of this fight that we're getting now.

If the Canelo fight is close or controversial then they'll likely be a rematch.

All that said, I think he'll forfill the remaining 4 fights after this one.
