It was a response to the post I quoted about the 'Jones didn't want Calzaghe' stuff.

Someone on this very site has Joe's quote about 'lookind for big money fights and not tough fights like Jones' as their signature...it wasn't on Jones.

Calzaghe said he would have fought Jones if offered good money. Hardly controversial. He was never offered the Jones fight anyway.

Calzaghe didn't have the names at 168 that Froch has now so it took him until the Lacy fight to get proper recognition by which time, Jones was basically finished.

Froch has arguably built up a better resume. I'd pick Calzagher over Froch though if they would of met in the ring.

I feel like this journalist has a vendetta against Carl and is using everything he can to try and stir up some hate against him. I spoke to Joe about Carl not long before the 2nd Kessler fight and he said to me that whilst he thinks he would have won a fight between the two, he can never be sure and we will never find out now. He also said he rates Carl as up there with the best of British, with the likes of the Eubank and Benn, but as for between himself and Carl, he couldn't possibly comment. And this is a casual chat at the football, so I struggle to believe he would say such things to a reporter, who is likely to print anything controversial he might say.

Sloppy journalism, and putting words into people's mouths is all this is.

There's a quote somewhere from Jones where he said something along the lines of "Why would I fight Joe for 2 million when I can fight a tomato can with a name in the states and earn 6 million?" Obviously I'm paraphrasing, but I actually heard him say it myself in an interview.

I respect both but Calzaghe is a legend.
No the fuck he is not.

He has 1 really good win on his record. prime Kessler

he's a proven coward not facing a prime Jones Jr, ducking Glen Johnson 2x before his "I'll fight you if you beat this guy" stipulations and continued avoidance, and hiding at home and being such a rabbit punching cheat that he should've been DQ'd AT LEAST once early in his career. I can't even respect that undefeated record. He's no Rock Marciano

Calzaghe is an athletically talented, strong willed fighter, but has a pathetic resume for a great.

Froch pushing himself to do almost nothing but challenge himself for more than several years now is the best thing about boxing... and unlike an ODLH, he's winning most of the time! How can he not be getting pushed to the same heights by everybody?! I don't care if people don't think he could beat the same caliber of fighter Joe could, he's at least doing what he can and facing the toughest bastards that can be put in front of him.

Joe a legend... that's legit infuriating to read. We need to as a boxing culture take prestige off having an undefeated record if you're not pushing yourself for legacy bouts.

So Joe can say he's better than Froch and Ward, Roy and all the other guys but Carl cant say he is despite having a more demanding resume? Joe needs to pipe down and mind his buisness! For him to be "Furious" over this is ridiculous. He could have went a long way to squashing this whole thing if only he'd fought Froch but as usual...no.

Calzaghe chose to run away from the sport when everybody was calling for him to take on further and greater challenges. Even before that, Joe, throughout his career, for one reason or another, missed matching the best fighters of his time at their peak. He left too many question marks and showed glaring weaknesses against fighters like Robin Reid and Bernard Hopkins.

Froch on the other hand has been just the opposite. He's run into the fire in every situation. He's determined to prove how great he is. And has.

Joe Calzaghe is a different fighter than Froch. Absolutely not better, and he's being fully arrogant to suggest so. He must be feeling deeply insecure about his legacy as he should.

He has indeed proven how great he is, it's just a shame he proved that he's not very great, if at all.

He's good, yes, but great? No.

And I like Carl, just not so much that I'm blind to obvious facts.
