    Truth is Joe has a history of somehow not fighting the best comp available....the mere fact that each of these instances must be explained should tell one all they need to know. Its the same with the Klits and with Sven Ott (who was mentioned on this thread).

    Joe's dad prolly saw how weak Lacy was and decided it was worth the risk. This is the most consistant explanation for what would occur with Ward.
    look at lacy! he's ripped to shreds! he had to be good...don't watch his fights though just trust me...

      Ring magazine rated fighters by country:

      1. Mexico (28)
      2. USA (25)
      3. UK (17)

      Bear in mind Ring is a US publication so their own fighters are going to get the rub of the green (in a Peterson has a chance against Matthysse sorta way).

      When it comes to fan support there's no contest, it's the UK who support their fighters packing venues out, US fans rarely do. The other thing is while I'm not sure about the sport's trajectory in the US, the popularity of boxing here is growing steadily.
