There is a big difference by raising it a bit to doubling the fee to something that just wouldn't ever happen! How is asking for more money the same thing as refusing?
If you wanted to sell your car, found you were undervaluing it and then raised the price, you still want to sell it.
If you want a raise from your boss, it doesn't mean you want to quit work, it means you want more money.
The logic doesn't follow for you unless one is a Zages nuthugger.
Why anyone fairly prime would avoid another fighter only to fight him when they had lost 50% of their ability is beyond me (except for tax reasons, which Bernard is not bothered by).
$3 million is right and is how much he got for fighting Pavlik years later, so why he'd ask for $6 million is a duck to me.Comment

yet it remains not a duck, its asking for more money.
If they had met the £6 mill mark, then Bernard would need to concoct a fresh duck. A more effective duck in the first place would be a feigned injuries, such as Joe Calzaghe's when he was avoiding journeyman Glen Johnson or trying to stave off fights against the few major opponents he faced.
In contrast, Bernard has no history of ducking opponents.Comment

Asking for a ridiculous amount that you'd never even come close to receiving in your entire career is pricing yourself out. He fought Pavlik for $3m when he was a much bigger name so how was he expecting to get $6m back then?yet it remains not a duck, its asking for more money.

Hopkins also ducked Roy Jones and James Toney for similar reasons. He was more content to fight bums until the much smaller Oscar De La Hoya came up from welterweight to fight him.Comment

he has fought him twice. You mean that he DELAYED fights with Jones.Hopkins also ducked Roy Jones
I actually don't know about him and Toney so I wont comment on that and take your word for it for now. Hopkins reign at MW wasn't outstanding but you are really underrating him, it was a solid unbroken run. I don't like the man but you have to give him his due for winning for so long and you certainly cant just make **** up about him just because you dislike him.and James Toney for similar reasons.Comment

He ducked Roy Jones in 2002/2003. Remember the infamous "60/40, i tax yo ass" interview live on HBO. Hopkins once again overestimated his worth by asking for a 50/50 split with the pound for pound king and much bigger box office draw.he has fought him twice. You mean that he DELAYED fights with Jones.

The Toney fight was all but signed...
Hopkins pulled out just like he did against Calzaghe. I haven't made anything up. This is just what happened.Comment

well it does seem like you are inferring Hopkins fighting Jones on other occasions is the equivalent of ducking him. Which its not. no matter though. He ducked Roy Jones in 2002/2003. Fair enough with that Toney cover if it wasn't just about money, I thought I'd seen that cover on Ring in the shops at some time.Comment
