  • Comments Thread For: Alfredo Angulo: Lara Not Exciting, His Style Does Not Sell

Alfredo “El Perro” Angulo has one of the toughest tests of his career ahead of him as he’ll tangle with Cuban Erislandy Lara on June 8th at the Home Depot Center in an interesting Junior Middleweight bout. The stakes are high for both Angulo and Lara who need a victory in order to continue their ultimate goal to be in title contention in a deep 154 pound division.

It’s no secret Angulo is a very aggressive come forward fighter who likes to pressure his opponents. Lara is quite the opposite as he’s of the Cuban pedigree where pure boxing and counterpunching are the keys to success.

Angulo is right, Lara is boring to watch

I saw Erislandy Lara vs. Paul Williams in Atlantic City boardwalk hall, the fight was alright, ok, to say the least I actually thought Lara could of thrown more punches, I was kind of bored. It was not an exciting bout.

WAR Angulo!!! I keep saying it. I think Angulo will perform better than expected! Dude KNOWS Lara uses a lot of movement. I think he's training for that.

I think it'll go to decision.... but who knows what the judges will be thinking

I agree, of course PW's high punch output made Lara seem even more inactive. I remember that fight well, PW was shoe polishing Lara to death, and Lara was almost knocking PW head off every 30-35 seconds. I kept wondering why Lara was satisfied with one shot at time playing it safe.

And that's why you're fighting him Angulo.

Boring or not if he keeps winning and stays active eventually he'll get the big fights.

IMO Angulo needs to try to go for broke early and get a KO. If he doesn't hurt Lara early it could be a long night for him.

Angulo will lose. He's too slow. "Perro" will be plodding along all night as Lara continually lands pot-shots and counters. I think the fight will end in a decision, but wouldn't be surprised if Erislandy stops Alfredo. I wouldn't mind betting points, if you're down.

                    Erisland Lara is savvy, but...

I totally agree with you 100%, Erislandy Lara will defeat Alfredo Angulo. I just hope Lara throws more punches, he has very good boxing skills.
