I agree the fight would have been more official @154, but 152 is still a legit matchup.
Man the only difference is that Manny was a lightweight and De La Hoya was a former middleweight who called out the smaller guy.

Floyd said himself he didn't want to do catchweights and beat his opponents on a even playing field. One year later he's asking Canelo to shed an extra two lbs.

Ya'll dislike Manny so much that you try to discredit his wins because of the cathcweight. Guess what Cotto was already coming into the ring at 146lbs and the extra lb made no difference in fight's outcome.

Now Floyd does it and everything is okay. I hope he gets his blocked knocked off by Canelo and we could finally end this hype train.

Is anyone else tired of these mutant freaks that flood message boards like this one all over the internet? They have no boxing insight. Hell, they aren't even boxing fans. Their sole purpose is to criticize Floyd Mayweather. The biggest fight that can be made right now in boxing has just been announced and all they can do is flood the boards with bull**** that has nothing to do with the actual boxing match. Word of advice. If you hate the guy so much, stop spending 75%+ of your waking moments thinking and talking about him.

it's disappointing that floyd took this at 2 pounds under the limit but i dont think it's the same as manny and cotto. in this instance, canelo had a choice of accepting the fight or not and im assuming that he agreed to it willingly since this got done pretty quickly. cotto on the other hand got jobbed by the wbo who threatened to strip him if he didnt fight manny at 145.

cotto said from the beginning that the 2 pounds would hurt him and it did since he seemed gassed from round 3 onwards. i dunno if the 2 pounds will hurt canelo but he hasnt said anything yet and he agreed to it willingly so if he thinks he can do it then there shouldnt be a problem. if he does lose i dont think it will be caused by the 2 pounds.

Canelo being 172 on fight night isn't an advantage? So you're ok with anyone but Floyd having an advantage? Maybe i'm confused.

I am just saying... did Sugar Ray Leonard ask for a catch weight against Hagler?

Did Ray Robinson ask Gene Fullmer or Carmen Basilio to drop down 2 pounds at middleweight?

Think of it this way - 2 lb is a small price to pay to make the fight.

Why is everybody crying, Canelo's gonna rehydrate 20lbs overnight. On fight night he will be 170lb and Floyd will be 150lb. Quit your whining. To be honest I don't know why floyd even cared about the 2lbs, he should be more concerned with a re-hydration clause.

Manny Pacquiao fights people at catchweights, I want my opponents to be comfortable." I'm not that kind of guy".
