But because your hero does it it's ok right?
Catchweights are designed to make a fair fight of two men who are not naturally the same size, not give an unfair advantage to one of them. That is the difference between what May is doing here and what Manny has done in the past. Oscar at 147 anyone? I dont like catchweights either but Canelo is naturally so much bigger than 154. I agree the fight would have been more official @154, but 152 is still a legit matchup.

Indeed. 1 lb a boxer can deal with, but when it comes to 2, that is when it can really affect them. In boxing at the highest level, 2 lbs is enough to make a difference. Heck feeling 10% better or worse mentally can.

Canelo had it stacked against him being fairly young, and now that he has to drain his growing body, that just sucks.

LOL why does Floyd do this to himself. This fight can't be taken seriously.

If i had more time I would go back to 2009-2010 and post all these quotes about Pacquiao draining ODL and Cotto.
Would be funny to see them in comparison to what the same posters are saying now about a 2 pound catchweight...

Its very simple. There is no question that the 152 catch weight benefits Mayweather. Canelo is the one who has to find a way to shed 2 pounds. Can it affect Canelo's performance? Maybe and maybe not. We don't know.

But what we do know is that it won't affect Mayweather.

In any case, Canelo agreed to the fight, so, if its anyone's fault it is his.

To me, I rate this CW along side Manny-Cotto, which I always said wasn't too bad, but why not just do the full 154???

Anyone who changes their opinion of who will win this fight based on the 2 pounds, is looking to discredit Floyd by any means necessary, IMO
He should have demanded a fight night rehydration clause instead. His critics would have still ***** and moan about it, but it would have been a more legit proposal. I'll give him credit for taking on a much bigger and stronger opponent and if he wins the fight, but i won't give him full credit for winning the belts. He won't be a legit 154 title holder after the fight.

Only advantage Canelo had was taken away. Now Mayweather has every advantage like in every other fight. Same thing Pacquiao tried to apply on Marquez
