do fighters really need to go running?

i mean, why cant they just live in the gym

do boxing work, i.e. mitts, bag, shadow box

    and sparring

what better way to get in fighting shape that sparring?

    why run?

If I had to choose between sparring and all the other exercises I would only spar. If I HAD to choose some other exercises I would only add the jump rope and kettle bell with sparring still the absolute first choice.

I guess you could get away with it if you're always in the boxing gym, James Toney is a guy who comes to mind who didn't like roadwork.

But running will offer many benefits such as endurance, maintaining/losing weight, and toughen you up mentally.

Because it was the training technique of the greats. I just got done doing 40 minutes of intense tabata routines and my shirt is completely drenched, I'm feeling great and about 2 pounds lighter. I would still like to run as well just because I like picking a route that I can run, get my work in and enjoy nature while I get exercise, variety is the ****e of life.
