I think this fight can get done, let Schaefer do the negotiations and everybody else need to shut the *** up about it and see what happens
That's actually around where some Jr Middleweights come in at. ****, Cotto used to come in 164-165 as a Welterweight fight night while weighing in at 146 the day before. Not much of a difference from 154-171 in comparison.

My only issue is why can't people fight near their actual weight class? I dunno maybe it's just me, but it's ****** havin a dude blow up like that...then again some it doesn't matter (canelo) others it does... that 163 for Lucas was huge, Love gets a bunch of **** for his....Chavez gets **** for it. I understand it's an advantage (those saying it's not lets be honest here... if it's not an advantage why do it to begin with). Same day weigh ins would really show a lot more skill vs skill imo other than one dude dwarfing the other.

When he made accusations about Pacquiao, that's exactly how he felt / thought. In this case of mentioning Floyd being really a 140lber and that Canelo isn't "No Middleweight", that's probably what he really thinks, otherwise why even mention that? Sr ain't Ellerbe who is a little more articulate, but he always seems to just spew what's on his mind. I don't think it's so much of a case people picking and choosing Sr's words because the majority of the stuff he says is whether it's about his son or any other fighter for that matter.
To me that is picking and choosing, you are correct about him not being sophisticated so in some ways you might get some interesting nuggets of truth from a guy like him but I know a lot of the guys using his words as gospel wouldn't trust him as far as they could throw him if he said something more beneficial to his son.

I can see the benefit of him playing this up and he probably does feel that way about their size as Canelo is much bigger.

That wouldn't be everyone though and everyone is free to make whatever judgement on a matter they see fit.

The guy needs to come with a big fight, so Oscar and Co. can make money. Canelo has a lot of followers but the weight is an issue, that's why he's mad. Can't drain Canelo and Floyd will never put his 0 at risk unless he will make a lot of money, like the Dela Hoya fight. Schaefer is just having a hard time negotiating.

Schafaer is outnumbered two people to one. He is just like Bob Arum, and trying to do damage control. Pathetic.

GBP is tired of not getting any credit for being the actual event makers and actual promoters of the fights. There has to also be some level of animosity at guaranteeing a guy $32 million to fight only who he wants and not who the company thinks makes for better profits.
