This thread should be on EPIC FAIL.

First off.....yeah Cotto wasn't quite as good as he was in his prime back in 2007.....but neither was Floyd, yet you conveniently forget to leave that out, and act like Floyd at 154 in 2012 is the same Floyd in 2007 at 154.

Secondly.....yeah Cotto touched Floyd an cut the ring off, and winded up landing a few body shots and jabs, go back and look, how many big shots did Cotto really hit Floyd with??? Not many....and yet Floyd out fought Cotto off the ropes, and hit him with big shots all night long.

The fight would look the exact same in 2007. And LOL at the people saying it was a "close fight". It was a competitive fight, but Cotto won 3 rounds, 4 at the most.

I guess the Floyd hype got to me as well thinking Floyd wasn't as bad as he was against a pathetic version of Cotto
LOL@ the Manny weight division of 145!!!...

Cotto at jww was getting rocked badly.Cotto was considered the top dog at 154 when Mayweather fought him...and before you ask who Cotto had fought in that division to make him so special, you should ask who the hell anyone at JMW fought to be the legit number 1...Cotto WAS the man at that time in the jmw division.

Floyd would've beat Cotto's ass up worse than he did had they fought at 140 or 147. A lot of you have this selective memory thinking that Floyd always fought like how he fought Cotto...nowadays. Cotto lacks a right hand which is why he lost so one sided against him. In their prime, the beating is worse.

Look at their fight at 154lbs, Cotto was considerably slower to the machine he was at welter. You could argue he is slightly past his prime aswell. Yet he still cut the ring off on Floyd, won 4-5 rounds and drew blood from him for the first time in his career.

What do you think guys? Does a prime Cotto beat Mayweather? Or at least go to a split-decision type-of-fight?
i like how you ignore the hugest glaring weakness that makes Cotto a huge underdog everytime he faces Floyd

          he's a one-handed fighter

Damn Cotto gets no love on this site. What a shame! Cotto vs Mayweather in early 2008 would have been the best fight you could have asked for. Considering he gave Floyd a good fight after he was labeled damaged goods, I wouldn't be shocked if he would have pulled off the upset.

So does a prime Oscar & a prime Shane ect ect... We will never know he's never faced an elite fighter in their prime.

Floyd didn't start "ducking Cotto" until he split from Top Rank. Everyone conveniently forgets all these guys Floyd supposedly avoided, Cotto in 2007/2008, Margarito in 2006, and Pacquiao in 2010-2012 were all Top Rank fighters. When Floyd was with Top Rank, we never heard about Mayweather-Cotto because they said Cotto wasn't nearly ready to fight Floyd.

The thing is, prime Cotto didn't have a great trainer like Pedro Diaz who came up with an excellent strategy against Floyd.

How about I just show you quotes that demonstrate Floyd wasn't even interested in an offer?

“Cotto’s a hell of a champion and the welterweight division is the best weight class in boxing. There are a lot of great fighters in the welterweight division and the junior middleweight division but I’ve done all I wanted to accomplish in boxing so I’m not thinking about fighting any of them.” - Mayweather 2007
"A lot of people will be asking, 'Who is he?' " Ellerbe said. "He's a very good fighter, a warrior, but not enough people know him." - Leonard Ellerbe 2007
Last month on ESPN, Mayweather Jr. actually sat and asked Brian Kenney, “What has he (Cotto) done?” Who has he fought? - April 2008
"If you ask Floyd to fight with me, he always has an excuse," Cotto said. "I'm not attracting enough fans. I don't represent too much money. He's not correct, though. He knows who Miguel Cotto is." - Miguel Cotto 2007
