I started a thread about this a while ago. Prime Cotto only beats Mayweather if he has Diaz in his corner. With the proper game plan he had last year, he has a strong shot. I still wouldn't favor him, but he would have a good chance. The problem is that there's no way Uncle Evangelista comes up with the right game plan to beat Floyd.

Please stfu...when was this supposed fight offered too mayweather. Arum himself in 2005 interview said he wanted to build cotto up more and mayweather would have fought margarito, but could not come to terms with mayweather on a 3 fight deal...he agreed to fight margarito for 8 mil, wanted 10 mil to fight cotto or hatton after that, then wanted 20 mil to fight DLH.....arum said no way......now go look what floyd made on those fights

I just think the way Floyd fights allows Cotto to have some success, generally speaking Cotto falters when guys push the pace on him make him fight harder than he wants or is prepared to do for 12 rounds. He has skills but he is an offensive minded fighter who wants to get his so when a guy is attacking him against guys able to take his fire and dish out some fire of their own he can't handle that.

Floyd fights in in a totally different way, which essentially allowed Cotto to fight how he wanted and he still only had fleeting success. I don't think that really changes at all, I think Cotto would always put a little leather on Floyd but never much more than that.

I also don't think Floyd was in top condition for that fight at least by his standards, when you are a fine tuned machine like Mayweather is even a being a bit off makes him very different.

Man, cotto is one of my favorite fighters, but I have to disagree. Prime mayweather dominates a prime cotto. Hell I think a prime cotto loses a decision to the mayweather who fought last weekend.

2008...........the excuse back then from the Mayweather camp was Cotto wasn't a 'name'.

Cottos team didnt take the fight yet posters say he beats a prime floyd. If those closest to cotto who knew him the best didnt think he could why do some posters?

Its like saying rid**** bowe would beat lennox lewis.

I watch Cotto-Floyd fight a few days before Floyd-Guerrerro and I still think Cotto won that fight

                And Emanuel Augustus bloodied Floyd

Thats because you know very little about the sport and nothing about how to score a fight.

People do realize how ****** they seem saying that Floyd got hit on the Cotto fight because he wanted to get hit? I mean come on, the reason Floyd look so good in the Guerrero fight was because Guerrero was throwing to the head, following him around the ring. Cotto was hitting the body and cutting off the ring, Mayweather had no other option but to fight the way he fought, but that was because of the way Cotto fought not because he wanted, that's bull****. Cotto lost but a close decsion 118-110 and 117-111 were bull**** scores that was a 115-113 fight for Mayweather or 116-112 if you are being generous.

Um, no, you could see that when Floyd fought in the middle of the ring he was very successful. You can also see that Floyd invited Cotto to the ropes. He wasn't really using his legs at all in that fight. I mean really, you can just watch the fight over and judge Floyd's movements on your own and tell hes purposely fighting on the ropes with Cotto. There are a lot of times in the fight where Floyd just stayed on the ropes while Cotto wasn't even in closing distance to him and invited Cotto to test Floyd's defense on the ropes. Not to mention Floyd out of his own mouth said he could have used his legs but decided not to because people would have said it was another boring fight. He said this during the post interview.
