Cotto hardly beat Mosley, I have a hard time seeing him beating Mayweather with respect to Cotto.

Cotto stop Mayweather in 2007.. Matter of fact, after Cotto stop Canela in September he will rematch Floyd in May and stop him then.

He doesn't. Mayweather has always been a bad matchup for Cotto and he always will be.

With all due respect Cotto beat a much, much better Mosley.

Look at their fight at 154lbs, Cotto was considerably slower to the machine he was at welter. You could argue he is slightly past his prime aswell. Yet he still cut the ring off on Floyd, won 4-5 rounds and drew blood from him for the first time in his career.

What do you think guys? Does a prime Cotto beat Mayweather? Or at least go to a split-decision type-of-fight?
Your wrong, you said he was able to cut off the ring thats true, but evidently he wasn't using his legs as he could've in the fight , and he weighed 151 for the fight, the heaviest hes ever been for a fight, prime floyd beats prime cotto easily, too many holes in cotto's game.

The thing that made it a good fight was Cottos tactics. And i believe that came through his experience and boxing ability which he has had to rely on more as he has moved up and got older.

Floyd didnt look great that night yet he still won a wide UD. A younger Cotto would have been all fire power and no ring smarts IMO.

Prime Cotto doesn't even beat Floyd right now. The fight went like that because Floyd went toe to toe. If he boxes then its a shutout

I agree with the first sentence, the second point is nonsense. It's hyperbole based on Floyds justification in his own head as to why he got hit and why the fight was relatively competitive, everyone else jumped on the bandwagon. He is never shutting Cotto out, ever! He is too good a fighter, too good at cutting the ring off, he has a tight compact guard, a good jab, underrated skill, speed, and accuracy. It's complete BS, the only way to shut him out is to hurt him, push him back and outwork him the way Pacquiao did. That is not Floyds style, Cotto has always been a very good fighter coming forward, but only decent moving backward and boxing.

I always knew that fight would be competitive, Robert Guerrero is not Cotto. The next time Floyd fights a fighter on Cotto's level I guarantee the same thing happens, he will have problems. Yes he committed to boxing a little more against Guerrero, but watch the fight back there are plenty of times when he stood still, he always has throughout his career. Difference being Guerrero couldn't do anything to him when he stood still, Cotto has way more quality than Guerrero.
