Comments Thread For: Marquez: Nobody Beats Mayweather Now, Not Canelo

What? Mayweather was promoted big time on HBO when he started. He had it the same way Bronner and Canelo are being promoted except HBO and Showtime now have documentaries airing about fighters. But Floyd has been huge since day one. Also, no Canelo will never be as good as half the champs I have seen since the 90's but he probably won't be much better than he is now either. He should fight May right now and learn from the loss. He ain't ever beating Floyd and if he beats an old ass Floyd it won't count
So your comparison FAILS in every way because neither Broner nor Canelo has even the Amateur Back Ground that Mayweather had, NOT EVEN CLOSE!
Oscar De La Hoya and Mayweather their hyped started from Amateurs because they was dominating and that damn good and stood out...with Broner his hype is because he is copying Mayweather and talks trash and is a showoff, Canelo hype is mostly because of his Look plus the instant fanbase because he is MexicanLast edited by sicko; 05-12-2013, 12:00 PM.Comment

I have to agree with Marquez here nobody is beating mayweather right now I don't give Canelo much of a chance either Floyd is way too smart he won't get into a dogfight with Canelo he hits too hard he'll just outbox him.Comment

I would feel the same as Pacquiao trying to get Cotto to come back down to 147lbs even though he'd already destroyed him and Cotto was coming off a loss.
The fight would mean little and if full plaudits are wanted, don't do anything to possibly weaken your opponent.
That being said, there are a couple things to consider. Mayweather's the marquee fighter, as was Pacquiao. Alvarez is the "challenger" of sorts here as was Mayweather vs Cotto. If you want to challenge the champ, you do it under their conditions or go elsewhere. Doing things like putting weight stips on a champion for THEIR title will always taint any victory you might have.Comment
