Power dont win fights. Skills and abilities do. And Im afraid that this just happens to be the FUTURE. Whole new level of fighters in this day and age. Back then, they probably never would have imagined boxing skills going this far. But I get it. Most die hard fight fans hate to admit that a present day fighter, is better than a throwback fighter. People will lie to themselves night and day about a fighter from the 80's being able to compete with the boxing-mutants of today!

i don't see any difference at all, the 80's, 90's, it's just floyd you're trying to put on top, that's why!

Everyone can agree all they want. You all are entitled to your opinion. I have always felt that boxing fans hate to admit that a modern age fighter is better than a fighter from the 80's. I have had this discussion plenty of times, and everyone always lies about those fighters having the skillset of guys like Floyd. But hey, we can agree to disagree! Nice tlk. Tnx!

Im not even a Floyd fan. But I have always felt that boxing fans have a problem admitting that fighters from present day eras are better than fighters from the older days. Its pretty obvious that Floyd is waaay better than those guys. They rely on speed advantage and footwork to overwhelm opponents. Floyd is much more complete, and you cant sum him up with just those two attributes.

All these damn threads about floyd being greatest and best boxing IQ blah blah blah and these fools still can't answer why their queen floyd won't fight the best fighters out there...smh

No more accepting tune ups and C fighters...if you are the best fight the best, PERIOD.

I actually thought Ghost would beat Floyd. Look at the Floyd who fought Cotto. Ghost has ALWAYS been a counterpuncher/volume puncher/slick-like boxer with decent defense. When he went up to ww, he became a pressure swarmer. A swarmer is different from a brawler. I can avoid the punches of a brawler. A swarmer's punches are too close together so its easy to get clipped. What did Floyd do against Cotto? He got pressured with some slow hands. He got outboxed in some of those rounds. Cotto adjusted to his pull-counter, and slipped it, while coming back with a hook. Ghost makes GREAT adjustments on the fly, and I actually felt he would do waaay better than Cotto. Ghost is a complete fighter. An A- fighter. I dont see anyone at ww beating him. He can outbox guys, or he can walk through punches with his chin. I saw how he did against Berto's power, he didnt even try to clinch when he was hurt.

Little did I know Floyd was hitting 3 times harder than he normally hits. Little did I know Floyd was going to be flying around the ring, light footed how he fought against the other taller, big boys in Genero Hernardez, Diego Corrales. Allot of people thought Ghost was going to be small but I been telling people all month how big he has been getting at ww, and I predicted he was on roids!

Child, Floyd won't even fight the best opposition from his era, but you want us to believe be beats the legends of the past because you think they didn't have equal skill sets? You're obviously quite young and new to boxing if you believe that bs. Just keep quiet. You're making yourself look quite silly to actual knowledgeable boxing fans.

What would you say about a boxer from the 70's and way past his prime having such great success in his comeback in George Foreman?....or a fighter in Mike McCullam that fought in the Hagler Hearns era and still had success with a prime James toney who was at his best at the time?

135- pernell Whitaker- reflexes just as fast if not faster than May's but better defensively as well as being more indept at fighting from close range. Great fight with pernell getting the Majority decision

140- Aaron Prior- really good power/ speed with great ability to absorb punishment along with a non stop hurricane fighting style. Would be a closer fight with Mayweather being forced to dig deep to a possible late stoppage loss (my opinion...don't hit me )

147- Sugar Ray Leonard- closer fight than many would think with Leanord coming out victorious. Leonard had great speed of hand and foot that was matched by his ring IQ along with knockout power. UD Leonard

154- Terry Norris- strangely this is the fight I'm most sure about partly do to 154 not being Mays ideal weight but also do to Norris's great skill and having recently marveled at his skill in his fight with Curry. Along with this I don't see May having the power to worry Norris. Win Terry Norris 9th round Tko
you don't have to find ATGs to beat Cherrypicker. winky at 154 would've beaten any 154 lbs version of Cherrypicker. prime Casamayor would've given him hell, so would a prime Cotto at WW, a prime Mosley, a prime Pac, a prime Marg, a prime DLH, etc... but Cherrypicker only fights guys when he knows they are past their primes

Yea Floyd is a ducker. But its pretty obvious that boxing has advanced far beyond the small amount of skills they had in the 80's. I dont want you to believe anything.

Your not a fool. You already know that the 80's have never seen a fighter on this level. Like I said prior, back then the best defense you could get out of SRL was him using his speed advantage to overwhelm opponents, and his footwork to run away from shots. He really didnt have any defense. But all boxing fans hate to admit that a fighter of this era is more complete than a fighter from that era. We can agree to disagree, because Im not changing my mind. Two completely different levels! Nice tlk, Tnx!
