Throughout the promotion for the fourth fight between Juan Manuel Marquez and Manny Pacquiao, which took place last Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, many had a bit of fatigue from the series after three fights
But of course the above is all Arum spin (as reported by ESPN) and we should accept that Floyd-Guerrero 'will do over 1 million'. Makes senseComment

so they are pulling an arum/pac huh??? squeezing out every ounce to get their "official" numbers.
i hope it doesnt take months to release like arum.
i remember the pac/cotto broadcast, they flaunted 1.25 million buys DURING the fight. LOL. so they definitely know whats up regarding PPV...Comment

Lolol.. Espinoza is delusional if he really believes this PPV was a success.. I don't care what false numbers Showtime puts out (If they even decide to release them), I don't believe this PPV did a million buys. Add to that there was boo'ing and loud chants of boring throughout the course of the fight. Showtime/GBP can spin this 6 ways to Sunday, but the bottom line is this PPV underachieved and unless Floyd fights Canelo next the numbers will only get worse.Comment

Actually I'm not angry because I don't care what the PPV does personally, I bought and enjoyed it. I do find it annoying how much hyper Canelo gets for doing almost nothing his entire career. The only time PPV are relevant is when it comes to setting up a fight between two A side fighters (may-pac) luckily Canelo is B side so it shouldn't be an issue. You seem to call 1+mil a failure yet hype canelo who got the same number to watch him for free. Its hypocrisy at it's finest.Comment

Pretty much. They're hardly going to say it was disappointing, are they? It probably did ok but they were hoping for much better is probably closer to the truth.Comment

From the third paragraph of the article:
"The final numbers were not in yet, but HBO did not dispute Arum's figure".
So let's review-
Arum says Pacquiao-Opponent did X amount of buys. HBO agrees. Arum is a liar.
Schaefer angrily curses about Floyd-Guerrero doing 'over' X amount of buys. Showtime agrees about a non number. They are telling the truth.
OK, got it. Pretty simple formulaComment
