If it was really that easy don't you think someone out there on the internet would've done it by now? I'm not even referring to this last Floyd fight. Even media guys like Fat Dan would have an incentive to look this up, to add validity to their rumor-based numbers reporting.

If this is really true (I doubt it) lets hear the REAL PPV numbers for Pacquiao's last 4 fights. Surely there is someone out there who really wanted to know, who would've crunched these readily available numbers by now.

GBP has incentive to lie But how come with this fight dan and kevin can get estimates within 48 hours but every other ppv they can't get an estimate for at least a week?

Dan Rafael and Kevin Iole telling us what PPV numbers are on a Tuesday is equal to you saying it, They state someone told them that the Direct TV rate was low?????? some basis, Now Iole is on Yahoo reporting the Million and how much lower than was than the 1.5 He did with Cotto (despite Cotto being way more known than Guerrero) add in the fact that the PV was $10.00 more than the last one at $70.00 THIS WAS A SUCCESS. Manny P did only 700k vs Clottey and Bradley at a lower rate and this wasnt succesful? Showtime is happy thats over $80(with $9.9 Mil from live gate) Million Dollars with $35 mil to the fighters. They never have PPV so they won good night for them

I knew 1.2 was too high of a break even number.

Some people are missing the topic. The question is if Showtime and GBP failed financially not Mayweather. Floyd was indeed a success; he made a guaranteed 32.5 million dollar purse, was a hit PPV wise and was impressive in the ring. On the other hand, SHO/GBP may have failed.

Quoting Steve Kim's take on the whole PPV situation: "The number being thrown around the most is 900,000 buys. And if that's accurate, let's do the math; at those amount of buys at $70 each (assuming everyone got the high-definition telecast), that's $63 million dollars of revenue of which about 55 percent goes to the cable and satellite operators for their participation in the event. So that's right around $31 million left for the promotion. Also you include what the closed-circuit did and the international rights fees. According to the NSAC, Mayweather's purse was $32.5 million. Add in the costs of the undercard, marketing and other expenses related to the event, well, you see there might be a significant deficit here (the site fee or ticket money from the MGM Grand most likely goes to the promotion, not the network)."

I personally don't give 2 ****s about PPV numbers or purses, but, when the head of SHO sports is saying he feels comfortable that they'll surpass a million buys he is confirming that they are indeed under a million buys as of Friday. What industry guys like Dan, Kevin and Steve are saying is if the rate doesn't reach 1.1 mil to 1.2 mil than SHO likely loses money or breaks even. To people like us a million buys is a success, to people vested in this PPV event (SHO/GBP)
they may be walking on eggshells right now.

People are really not that dumb. What I don't understand is why are they trying so hard to push the figures? Will the world end if they tell the truth?
