I don't believe Peterson will charge from the first bell. There will be a feeling out process at the beginning. Lucas has great confidence going into this fight so I don't expect him to respect Peterson. He'll go at him from the 1st round until he gets the stoppage. I think Lucas will get his "W". I'm rooting for Peterson though. Respectable fighter.
I don't know about Khan taking the shots well either..That was a big reason why Khan was on his bike running..Not to mention Khan was still with Ariza, which I still feel was Khans biggest mistake to leave Ariza..Dude was taking shots ten times better then he is doing now..

I don't believe Peterson will go toe to toe from rd 1,I agree there will be a feeling out process..But Peterson does not want to stay mid range, where Matt's power punching is at it's best..Peterson will have to smother Matt's punches..On the inside Peterson is better imo..Overall tho this will be a great fight..I expect fireworks..

I don't know man. Garcia and Maidana left his face pretty messed up with fewer shots landed. I just don't think Peterson is that powerful. Or powerful enough to keep Lucas away. He needs to invest in those body shots early if he wants to slow Lucas down. But I agree that Peterson needs to fight him at a close distance and smother him on the inside. Lucas has no real inside game and he just wants Peterson on the ropes.

      • Peterson's inside game is so brutal even Amir Khan couldn't live with it.

        • Bradley said something like that before the Pacquiao fight but he did not fight the way he said he would. I doubt he will go toe to toe with Matthysse but I'll bet he gets KOed no matter how he fights. Matthysse has improved since the Judah fight. I think he would KO Judah if they fought again. Matthysse gets the KO every fight now.

          • Bradley knocked Peterson down and hurt him so I don't think he can handle the two handed power and accuracy of Matthysse. Holt had seen better days but Matthysse is at his peak now or getting better by fighting better fighters.

            • I've stated this in a previous post; That if Lamont Peterson is going to pull off the upset, against Lucas Matthysse, then he is going have to smother his power punches by backing him up and fighting him on the inside, while mounting a relentless body assault. The reason being, is Lucas has very underrated boxing ability against opponents, who attempts to box him from the outside. He is deceptively quick, with excellent leverage on his punches; Especially on his beautifully timed right hand. Every fighter I've seen who attempted to fight him from a distance has either been hurt, dropped or stopped by him. So to a degree, I agree with Lamont Peterson that he'll make this fight a dog fight and fight him toe to toe. Perhaps it's his safest and best chance of winning decisively without controversy. However, he has to apply his pressure wisely by keeping a high guard while digging to Matthysse's rib cage.He could also win, by attempting to box him from the outside too but it may prove to be a bit risky as he may run into one Lucas' counters.

Funny thats a good point about Khan's durability with the Ariza shakes. Though Maidana did sting him up he was a big puncher at 140. Diaz a big puncher at lightweight but not percieved that way at 147. Khan should make up with mr ariza

                • As this fight nears I'm starting to think its going to be Matthysse. Bradley did have Peterson hurt bad. Matthysse was literally stopped or dropped everyone he's fought except 2 people and 1 of those 2 got DQ'd. Peterson might have the physical strength on the inside but he isn't going to be able to come in on Lucas like he did on Khan without tasting canvas. He's going to getting KO'd in the process. I just see this fight ending in KO its Lucas' time. His punching power is real it has translated to the world class level. I think Peterson is slightly overrated at the moment I really felt he lost the Khan fight and he did not look great early in the Holt fight.

                  • Peterson is a pressure fighter and he can adjust a little during the fight to be effective. I watched both fighters and in my opinion Matthysse is slower than Peterson and that will be a problem for him. Tough fight to call but I'm going with Peterson but would not be surprise if Matthysse won. Peterson is tough and not sold on Matthysse stopping him because I am not sure Peterson can be stopped. Dude got a beard on him. Victor Ortiz dropped him twice and Peterson got up to get a draw. I see the fight like this. Matthysse drops Peterson a couple of times but as the fight goes down the stretch. Peterson starts wearing Matthysse down with body shots on the inside.
