Canelo is Mexican so how many PPV buys did he do?He never even headlined a PPV even though he fought an opponent that was coming off of a win over a big name opponent.Canelo was on the Mosley/Mora PPV undercard and that fight flopped on PPV.

And a lot of Mayweather`s PPV buys come from Black Americans.

This is probably true. I went to the Guerrero fight and there was a lot more blacks than any other race.

Canelo would be doing well to get 25% against Mayweather.

Alvarez is in the same position Floyd was against Oscar, actually probably even worse off. Floyd had at least headlined 3 PPV's, selling above 300K every time. Floyd had to take peanuts against Oscar and give him everything.
Exactly, if Canelo wants to be boxing's biggest draw, he's gotta suck it up while negotiating with boxing's biggest draw.

          Simple as that.

This is a critical move for Canelo.

People need to stop this Pac/May vs Canelo/May comparison.
It's apples and bananas. The same excuses can't be used
here. There's no Arum to deal with. No drug testing issues.
They're both GBP fighters. They're available and amenable to
the September date, you name it.

So stop this silly comparison. That's the whole point of these
discussions. People will ask, "What's the excuse now?"

This situation is different than the other ones. There is no Bob Arum trying to go to Singapore to find investors or build stadiums on the Vegas strip.

Plus GBP already has the rest of the year mapped out for Garcia, Matthysse, Khan, Alexander and Peterson which eliminates all of them out of the immediate picture.

There is really only one option out there right now and that is why it will get done soon.

Canelo made 1.25million vs Mosley and made 2million vs Lopez, I'm not sure how much he made vs trout n but wouldn't of thought it was more than 2.5million, I think he might get the same offer or just less than cotto got 8million and a share of the ppv

2013- vs Ghost, preliminary #s show sub 1mil PPV buys, great for everyone else, but crappy for Floyd and a money loss for Showtime.
You really want to risk another sub par PPV event against Khan, Alexander, or Garcia?
Actually Canelo was on the undercard of the Mayweather - Marquez fight. I think it was the first PPV he was ever on and was a virtual unknown amongst fans at the time. So Floyd actually helped introduce the Ginger to the US fans.

                      Despite the facts that:

                      1. He hasn't vacated his belt at 154
                      2. The fight is currently being negotiated
                      3. He has 6 more months to defend his title
                      4. He said he is going to defend his title later this year
                      5. It's the biggest fight that can be made in the sport right now and the opponent is under the same promotional team

Facts are facts. The fight will be signed in a couple of weeks and a lot of people are going to be eating crow.
i say its a 85% chance this fight happens in sept
