Richard Schaefer: Mayweather-Alvarez talks set to begin

    mlive.com:

"I’ll be meeting this week with Floyd’s adviser (Al Haymon) and we will start having conversations," Schaefer told Kim. "I know that Floyd is the kind of fighter who doesn’t turn down anyone.

"He’s always fought anyone and everyone and I know that with 'Canelo,' that’s the fight he really wants. So we’ll just have to see if we put it together. But I'll be working on that. That’s my number one priority."

    Looks like it's on

Still a lot has to happen. Don't expect any announcement on who's doing what until two fights play out......Angulo-Lara and Lucas-Peterson. We won't know anything until Mid or Late June probably.

I wonder what the odds are that Alvarez asks for too much.

If he asks for 40% or above, he's trippin'. No way no how does Alvarez get a % like that having never headlined a PPV. I bet he'll ask for 40-50% though and everyone will say Floyd is ducking.

Alvarez is in the same position Floyd was against Oscar, actually probably even worse off. Floyd had at least headlined 3 PPV's, selling above 300K every time. Floyd had to take peanuts against Oscar and give him everything.

if the fights made I don't want people to switch up from mayweather ducking canelo to he's fighting a green bum.

Canelo's team in the past have said they won't play hard ball money wise, they just want the fight. I would be shocked if it happened this soon. I think most likely they will have a deal in place to fight next year. I am guessing they agree to let Canelo go against Cotto in September, Floyd fights in October or November and then we see it happen in May 2014.
Props to Floyd if he takes the fight. Would be his biggest physical threat in a long time.

I bet Canelo will ask for 35-40%, and I think he deserves it. This fight will be monster PPV hit mostly beacuse of Canelo; He's Mexican, he's young, he has fan friendly style, he is extremely popular, Not to mention September 14 is Mexican holiday. And let's be honest, after Guerrero fiasco, Showtime will be pushing on Floyd to sign this fight.

But Floyd's scared of Canelo right? He's scared of them, he fights them, he beats them, they were a bum anyway. Rinse and Repeat.
