Do people here understand that gamboas stabbing wounds were both a result of his wife attacking him but they call him wife beater for grabbing her when she tries to attack him? Please

I think its more of a sociological thing than a boxing thing, lots of boxers are born into poor households (where stresses are greater) statistically domestic violence is more common in households with certain incomes and it get passed down to their children etc.

At higher incomes this behavior is exposed (not that its right, it have the same weighting no matter your income)

Because they make their living in a sport that teaches them that violence resolves disputes.

It honestly shouldn't be that surprising unless you're an utter imbecile.

Why is this so common among boxers?

(mind you, there are some boxers like Sergio Martinez and Wladimir Klitschko who have too much class to hit or threaten a woman)
We should put up a list of fighters that used PEDs while doing mma before they started boxing professionally.

Seems like this incident did get 'swept under the rug' as I haven't heard anything about the DA prosecuting Wilder. GBP probably gave the woman some 'hush money.'

Also, a lot of folks here, and in the boxing world, pretend it didn't happen (myself included). That said, I'd love to see Wlad give Wilder a proper thrashing

                there's a lot going on.

many great fighters come from economic depravity. studies regularly correlate lower economic status with increased rates of violence by men against women. they're more likely to be around it growing up.

head trauma can lead to increases in violent behavior, and is known to contribute to impulsive behavior, and drastic mood swings.

these guys often go from impoverished to wealthy within a few years. mo money, mo problems, mo women, mo beatings.

finally, these guys dispense and sustain ass kickings for a living. they chose this. let's not act like that has something to do with it. these guys are fighters. they're not doctors, lawyers, accountants, cab drivers. most of them aren't violent against women, but the high rates of violence against women [anecdotally,] that you see fighters dishing out has got to have something to do with the fact that these guys f#cking fight for a living, and are more violent than your average dude on the street.

I'd say some of it might be due to economic reasons, some of it due to personality types clashing...

But really, women use passive-aggressiveness a lot of times to work up a guy's aggression, KNOWING he can't act on his aggression... which is a detestable quality.... Add the fact that men and women are naturally in a state of discord, and fighters make a living ACTING ON aggression and antagonism... You have a recipe for disaster unless, of course, you find a GOOD women who can CONTROL HERSELF.

Or else you have a fighter who has to constantly control himself around a woman, who, protected by the system, feels no need to control herself... she'll feed on the drama of fighting with him, even it means it destroys him, because she doesn't have his best interest at heart...she'll be running to the bank... It's why all fighters need to watch out for gold diggers and fame whores...

Cotto's wife always struck me as a good woman. Maidana's wife too.
