This is so true. I don't know why no one gives Mares props, he is doing the same thing Andre Ward did, but then again, most people didn't give him props either. Mares beat everyone he wasn't supposed to starting Yhonny Perez until now. People need to stop hating on this kid and give him his credit due.

As long as he fights dirty, he gets no props from me. And the PDL fight was stopped too early.

Marquez is full of jealously and envy towards Canelo's success and popularity from day one.

He's always criticizing Canelo and never praises him in the slightest, he is bitter because Canelo, even if unproven and green as he is, is still more popular than Marquez.

He has no problem praising Mares because Mares is still largely unknown even to mexican fans, also no matter what Mares does, he will never be a mega-star simply because he belongs in the smaller weight classes, Canelo's star potential is way bigger in that sense

Marquez is a typical case of an old guy wishing he was still young and hating on the new generation. He envies Canelo's youth, popularity, good looks and potential, because when Marquez was Canelo's age, he was still fighting cab drivers in mexico and nothing he could say will change that

Ok, you're comparing records of a future HOF fighter vs. protected "undefeated" fighter who couldn't even man up to give Trout a rematch - nice. Canelo is the one with blown up lightweights, shot fighters and dudes straight from Bum Fights on his resume. And Trout is NOT upper echelon. He beats Canelo's brother who's definitely not a world-beater for his strap. He should have KO'd Rodriguez. Cotto's shot to pieces. Even though he's a lefty & has a decent skill set (though his jab needs work), it's obvious he doesn't have the power to keep people off him. Oh, and Marquez was robbed in the Norwood fight (& wouldn't be the last time either), so what's your point?

Mares would outbox Santa Cruz. Cruz gets hit FARRRR too much, its gonna cost him at the higher weights. Mares is the goods IMO

sure canelo has potential without a doubt. but he's just some Mexican dude with red hair golden boy is pushing on about. he's still growing and needs to fight more elite fighters. canelo is receiving too much attention and respect by the Mexican community for fighting tomato cans other than trout.
