Mares has a far better resume than Canelo.

Abner has victories over Agbeko (2x), Vic, Ponce de León, Anselmo Moreno and IMO he clearly won against Perez (he got a draw)

Canelo has victories over Trout (best win in his career), shot Mosley, shot Cintron, Alfonso Gomez, Matt Hatton, etc...

Mares clearly has a far better resume, it doesn't matter if he hates or not Canelo, the truth is that Mares has done a lot more than Canelo and keeps beating everyone in his path.
