I can see Wladimir acknowledging that his brother betters him. I can't see his fans doing the same.
They've always been a peculiar lot with their coupling of emotional attachment and amnesia. Personally I'm a fan of boxing, I've always found it a little ***** that someone would favour a particular fighter over the sport itself.
He's one of the greatest boxers of all time in terms of application and mindset. He is a remarkable man whose professionalism seems beyond equal.
It would be folly though to confuse that with greatness inside the ring.

Ok, so you can point to Marciano, sure. But then again that probably WAS among the weakest eras in history
His first conceivable legitimate championship win was over Chris Byrd for the WBO strap in 2000. Lennox Lewis was still the dominant heavyweight on the planet until his retirement in 2003.
Vitali won the WBC belt in 2004 over Corrie Saunders who had already knocked Wladimir out. Just before Vitali won that strap Wladimir was knocked out again by Lamont Brewster.
Vitali was boxing's dominant heavyweight, you could argue right until he retired in 2012 (we could question whether his brother surpassed him in the twilight of that reign).
It's not out of hand then to state that Wladimir has only been the dominant boxer in his division for the last two years.Last edited by - Ram Raid -; 09-20-2014, 07:44 AM.

yes, it's a real tattoo, and it will be there until he dies.
But at least I have long enough arms to reach my **** when it's hard, tyrannosaurus rex.
It's meant to be 'of all times'.

I don't see his skill, which is basic in comparison to the past heavyweights champions whose company he's being elevated to, as being at a level that would stop him from getting hurt against Vitali.
After all, he's been badly hurt by lesser fighters. And I acknowledge that he's improved since then, that's what I admire about him, but I don't see him besting his brother.
