Has a fighter that fights the top 3 guys ever been crapped on like Floyd?

Floyd gets blasted for taking decent fights over big fights
he knows he can break bank fighting whoever, so he does
the guy admits he doesn't care about enhancing his rep, just money
it's one thing if you have nobody to fight, ie Wlad
but there's been bigger fights on the table Floyd declined to go forComment

When you pick opponents who happened to be ranked too high, that's also cherrypicking. Like in this post you brag about him beating the #1 at 154, when everybody knows Cotto was not a legit #1. And then most Floyd fans get upset if they want him to fight other highly ranked, less blown up SWWs.Been saying it for years....
Sergio fights Dzinziruk (Top 10 at 154), Barker (not ranked at 160), Macklin (#3 160), Chavez (#3 160), and Murray (Top 10 160)....get's applauded by most anyone on here.
Manny fights Clottey (#5 147), Margarito (not ranked at 147 or 154), Mosley (Top 10 at 147, hadn't won his last two fights), and Marquez 3 when he did, doesn't get near as much s**t.
Floyd fights Mosley (#1-2 147/#3 P4P), Ortiz (#2 147), Cotto (#1 154), and Guerrero (#3 147).....and gets universal crap on here a lot of times.
Mayweather is the only fighter in the history of the sport who gets s**t for fighting top ranked fighters at or around his weight. Seriously, the guys who claim he's overrated or whatever, they are the one's overrating him by saying it's a cherry pick if the guy fights top fighters at his weight class. He's supposedly too good to fight the top fighters at his weight, that they wanted him to fight the Middleweight champion. Nevermind that he's 20 lbs smaller than him at least and started at 130 lbs, and has never weighed more than 151 lbs.
And the only fights he didn't get that would have meant something were Pacquiao, Margarito, Tszyu, and Wright. Wright wasn't a duck, Floyd would have been crazy to go from 140 to 154 lbs in 2005, but he was willing to do so. Margarito, the only thing that has any merit of a fight Floyd didn't seem interested in. But if you want to be real with the "facts", Floyd openly said he'd fight Margarito for 8 million, if Bob Arum was willing to give him certain money for De La Hoya and Cotto. Arum said he didn't see that as a possibility. Floyd-Tszyu didn't happen for a few reasons. One, different networks and two, Tszyu was hurt when Floyd came up to 140. And when the fight was getting talked about, when Floyd-Gatti and Tszyu-Hatton were happening, Tszyu lost to Hatton. And as far as Floyd and Manny, neither fighter seemed interested at the same time. But the only time there was a real contract sent and written up, early 2010, it wasn't Floyd Mayweather who turned it down. Had Manny signed and agreed to testing then, instead of doing so 2 years later finally, we would have had a fight in March 2010. I still think, if Manny comes back strong, this could happen someday.
Same with Guerrero, you're pretty proud of his ranking yet posters here think 10-1 he gets thumped easy by unranked Marg or #5 Clottey.,Comment

currently, there aren't any
for that reason, people need to stop complaining about Guerrero
in the past, Floyd blew off bigger fights for lesser ones
right now, all he has is Guerrero at WW or Alvarez at JMW
after that, take on the winner of the JWW series, they'll go up for itComment

He has great skills but that's only part of a fighters identity. Challenging those skills with guts to receive the glory, he has notComment

Be open minded guy, your simply thinking on Mayweathers terms. He offered 40 Mil to Manny on a fight to break PPV records of up to 200 Mil. Why the hell would he take 40 mil? Just cause Mayweather offers and says so- That's a poor way of offering a champ like Manny and even he knows this. The split has to be more along the lines of 40-60. That will give Manny almost about $80 mil. It's the reason why he did not accept.
Be practicle on what you say. I can only think that Mayweather has found a way to get away form HBO to avoid Manny... hmmm. Makes me wonder, ok then if it's about money, then it's worth ruining his career over avoiding Manny. Simply because it's about money. Lets be real here.Last edited by marcogman; 04-29-2013, 11:05 PM.Comment
