Offering Manny $40 million to fight is not shying away in my opinion. It would have been Manny's biggest pay day. In the 1st negotiation, all was done until Floyd asked for drug testing. Manny turned it down. Why??? If you are a clean fighter, what is there to hide? So if people hate on Floyd for not fighting Manny, they should hate Manny even more.
So its ok to offer 40M and keep the rest of the money? GTFO dude, who you think Manny is? Manny is no Guerrero or Ortiz who make no money in their fights.

Do you have any idea who Spinks was? what he accomplished and how highly he is rated?

I'll give you a little insight, he was greater than Floyd or anyone on his resume

Bob Arum countered that offer with 45mil, Floyd went quiet after that.

The reason he's crapped on is because he is no where near as great as he thinks himself out to be and the fact he avoided 3 legitimate challenges which the fans were crying out for. He thinks of himself as gods gift to earth, like he's unbeatable and can beat any of the past ATG's. Seriously, that first fight against JLC proved that no way would he have beaten the likes of Pryor, Lamotta, Basillio, Duran or Chavez and in the fight against ODH you could see that he struggles with bigger guys with a solid jab, Oscar was done than, but even in his prime could he have compared himself to the likes of Robinson, Leanord, Hearns etc?

but thats kind of the TS point. You judge the opposition based on how you feel about Mayweather. Liking or not liking a fighter should have no bearing on how you evaluate the opposition they face.

You also know the truth about why fights didn't happen. Yet despite numerous media outlets telling and retelling the story it still comes down to blame floyd because I dont like how he talks about himself.

I can understand not liking him because he is arrogant and self absorbed. But when you use that to judge the opposition than you're nothing more than a petty hater.

No it wasn't, it was exactly like the offer floyd made. Whats wrong with a winner take all?

i used his opponents as a measuring stick as to how he would do against the ATG's. Floyds best win to me was JLC, he was a real good fighter but Floyds 2 'victories' over him were not that impressive.

I do blame him for not getting the Pacman fight done, vacations, 100 million dollar demands and pointless blood tests. If he truely wanted to clean up the sport he would campaign for a olympics style drug testing, a 24/7/365 type one.
