martinez looking like boxing's elijah price. he needs to take some serious time off to fully recover and see how he does well rested. i don't want to say he's done being a fan of his, but he's pretty damn close to it. hopefully a good vacation serves him well. not sure if more people would want to see it, but perhaps in his return he can try and rematch murray. i'm not sure what his opinions are on the fight when he watches it on a screen, but hopefully martinez has a couple good more performances left in him. besides a murray rematch, a geale fight would be great (if he stills has the belts) to see how he does after some time off. golovkin or chavez jr are the not the fights to make when considering his return (next fight). hopefully those two guys can face each other (chavez/golovkin) if they're both victorious in their next fights.

it's funny how people are forgetting that the ring was WET and it was raining. maybe I'm not the brightest but when your entire game depends on movement and timing fighting on a wet surface might impact your preformance.

Martinez haters are going to hate

but I think it was one of Martinez's most gusty preformances and a lesser fight would have been blown out.

Martinez fought the almost the entire fight with a broken hand. so no power

he fought on a wet surface so no movement

so you take away his two biggest assets and he still manages to keep it close. that's a p4p fighter to me. he dealt with intense adversity and managed to win. those conditions favored Murray and Murray put in a great preformance.

what other fighters who rely on speed and power would have done well under those conditions? I'm serious it's an honest question

I thought Murray won the fight clearly. I pretty much gave him 4-10 plus 1 (2) knockdown(s). Maybe the "broken hand and re-injured knee" played a factor. Either way he needs to take some time off, and move down in weight, or at the very least avoid the likes of GGG.

in a football game if it's raining some guys don't look so good. football fans are used to it so if speedy guy like Chris Johnson or Percy Harvin looks bad, it's no big deal. it was just the weather. if they get hurt it was just the weather. but with a punishing back those kind of conditions help them and people realize it.

boxing is different because fans aren't used to factoring in weather conditions but the same could be said of basketball fans

Martinez needs to retire. He really didn't look as ripped at the weigh-in like he normally does. I don't think he can get up for these type of fighters, but they get up for him. The only other fight for him would be at 154 against Floyd. Murray is better than a lot of people think though. He has a very tight defense and a real good right hand. He would give any middleweight problems. GGG, Quillin, and all these other Middleweights need to fight each other and build their resume before they deserve to fight Sergio. By that time, Sergio will be way past it.

Given that the HBO guys said the rain was blowing sideways I was surprised that neither fighter tried to get the advantage by keep the rain at their back and the rain in the opponent's eyes.
