DiBella says Martinez broke his hand in the second round, after landing a punch on Murray's elbow. Both the promoter, and his adviser, said the injury "is likely" to keep Martinez on the shelf for the "remainder of the year." Martinez may have also re-injured his right knee; the same knee that required surgery in the aftermath of last September's win over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

Well that would certainly explain him not throwing as many punches as he is accustomed to.

Was re-watching the fight earlier, he said that in the second round too.

yea he wasnt throwing much but, he also wasnt doin much body movement with his shoulders n also head movement, he also does a lot of feints n keeps his opponents at a distance cause of all the movement he does, last night he was just dropping his hands but wasnt really moving his head much or his body, i noticed he wasnt sweating much neither, maybe the climate or being at home in front of his family n fans that got him nervous, based on the past Martinez should have won this easy Murray did nothing special he was slow n easy to hit

He should just retire, being shelved for a year at his age can´t be good. It´s not like he´ll come back stronger or anything.

Before the fight weren't Martinez handlers saying Martinez will not fight again in 2013 after the Murray fight? This seems like a reason to actually do it now. But even before this injury, they were saying Martinez will only fight once this year. It's like "Oh look, now we actually have a reason. Martinez broke his hand, he can't fight anyways".

Lost his last fight too. He should retire or just come back to fight Golovkin and then retire no matter the outcome.

I think the magnitude of the event, the rain pushing the fight up by two hours and his knee played a part. It was just an off night for him overall. Murray has a solid defense but he was hitting Martinez with punches that normally wouldn't land. I definitely think the knee actually was pretty bad, a lot worse than Martinez was letting on.

His trainer let on earlier this week that he had some other injuries and he had to take time off to heal properly. I think he has some type of shoulder injury too. Martinez said that if it weren't for this doctor person being so good that he would have retired a few fights ago.
