Comments Thread For: Golden Boy, Top Rank Take Positions For 9/14 Showdown

The stage is set for another head to head promotional battle in Las Vegas. Keith Kizer, Executive Director for the Nevada State Athletic Commission, has advised BoxingScene.com that promotional rivals, Golden Boy Promotions and Top Rank, have officially reserved Las Vegas venues for September 14th.

Golden Boy is holding the MGM Grand for a planned Showtime pay-per-view involving Floyd Mayweather Jr., and Top Rank has reserved the Thomas & Mack Center for a welterweight main event between Juan Manuel Marquez and WBO champion Timothy Bradley, which is likely going to land on HBO pay-per-view.

I said before JMM vs Bradley would be lucky to see 500k (kinda exaggerating here) and it will do even less now going head to head with Mayweather. They will most likely sell out but PPV numbers won't be good at all...

Or Canelo fights Cotto or someone else on that night. Floyd may take another date in Oct maybe.

Either way i dont see JMM outselling Canelo or Floyd

JMM vs Bradley will be on PPV? Wtf? That fight will get about 100K buys if it's lucky. If Floyd vs canelo is made then I'd presume that the JMM Bradley fight would be pulled.

Seems like Golden Boy has a few options, and that Top Rank is hoping that Floyd does not fight Canelo on that date.

If both of them put on stacked cards that will be good. Trying to outdo each other

I dont think TR has big enough stable to put on stacked cards but guess we will see.

Top Rank better add Chavez Jr. If they expect to compete with either Canelo or Floyd.
