I wouldn't mind seeing Alvarez fight Angulo, if Angulo beats Lara, but I feel confident in saying I think my boy Lara will wipe the floor with Angulo.

lara's got a rough style for alvarez. that said, he underwhelms me. he's a decent looking fighter on paper (olympic cuban, southpaw, decent power,) but he's consistently underwhelming when he fights. other than putting a beating on paul william's dead body he has not done anything impressive in his career when he's fought top fighters.

and if trout had a style that is easy to rob, lara is no different. he's also much smaller than trout.

The most troubling thing tho is canelo is a very inactive fighter. He throws less average punches than the standard jmw, he takes whole rounds off and he fights for half of other rounds and he still has stamina issues. I don't know if its the weight or not, but at the elite level, stamina is a must. Ask cotto

While I'm one that argues for Lara, he would have a hard time winning a decision against Alvarez. Too inactive, too willing to fight ugly.

If he did beat Alvarez, it would have to be incredibly dominating. Don't think Lara is THAT good.

I am usually very fair when I look at a potential matchup between two fighters. I noticed a couple things though with Canelo that will spell big trouble when he fights Floyd.

Canelo hesitates to throw punches when he is not given much. There were times against Trout where he seemed hesitant and looked unsure how to attack. After 2 or 3 rounds of hitting arms and air against Floyd, he might mentally unravel in there.

Those Defensive moves he did against Trout will not work against Floyd. Floyd is basically twice as fast as Trout is. Floyd will be hitting him with sharp punches fairly constantly.

I personally do not think he is nearly ready for a fighter like Floyd yet. He is still young and should wait another year. He needs to work on his stamina, and learn how to create openings instead of waiting for them.

Is an issue but its the easiest thing to fix, you just gotta work your ass off.

Speed, power, chin reflexes these things you can improve a little or not at all. Stamina comes from years and years of hard work.

Younger fighters generally have less as they don't have as many long, hard training camps behind them.

This is as much of a problem as Canelo lets it be.

Against low quality opponents who he's expected to knock out in 4-8 rounds its not an issue, but to top fighters like mayweather who's stamina is great. It could be a very big problem

silly statement. If you watch Trout carefully, you'll realize he has a shaky chin.

Cotto grazed a right hand around his temple when his back wear near the ropes, and Trout reacted with a zap through his legs.

a lot of great posts in this thread.
I for one would like to see Canelo fight Mayweather. I think Mayweather takes him to school unless he looks old and slow against the ghost, but either way Canelo is young makes a grip of money and its a great experience for him to be in against one of the best of our generation.

It has to be a concern, he wasn't even throwing much punches back at Trout and he looked winded by the 4th Round

Now imagine against Mayweather, he would have to let his hands go A LOT, the way he fought Trout is not going to get him a Decision over Mayweather, he is going to need a better JAB, he is going to have to Pressure, he is going to have to fight with Mayweather INSIDE, he won't be able to keep distance or go backwards and get a win against Mayweather, it is going to take a lot of Pressure and Canelo and that will take a lot of Stamina so he better have his Stamina PERFECT against Mayweather because he is going to need all of it and more for Mayweather style

as i mentioned before, i'd give kirkland the better chance of catching alvarez. he's got fast hands and he's a southpaw.

i still think he bodies those two, especially now that they've both had huge issues with their careers.
