I think people are going a bit overboard on the open scoring thing. Canelo and everyone else knew what was happening if it went to the cards. Trout would need to have dominated to get a decision, never mind get knocked down in a close fight.

I had it for Trout, and I fully believe the fight was close enough to merit a rematch. But if it's not in Vegas then there's no point. And in any case, it's on to new business for Golden Boy. Austin Trout, regardless of how he performed, was always going to be little more than a stepping stone for GBP's cash cow.

It has to effect the fighters though, when the fighter who wants and needs to box is told he he has no chance to win a fight on the cards after 8 freaking rounds. That's different than suspecting/knowing he would need to dominate, but not knowing the cards during the fight.

You are right, but I'll never like it and never stop complaining about it.

The fight was very very close, neither man dominated

thus I think there should be a rematch

The flip side is a guy who's being robbed on the cards getting an early warning and pressing the action instead of just seeing out the fight. On balance I'm against open scoring too, it certainly takes a lot of the drama away for fans which I suspect is the real reason it bothers people so much. I just don't think it's as much of an abomination as some believe it to be. It's just different more than anything else, and for the most part people don't like things being different.

Whoever is the judge that scored 119-109 is blind like a bat!

IM SUPER SUPER shocked to see a forum named checkhook had Trout winning, and to think posters of ESB had Trout winning by a landslide... true shock!

Next you'll tell me BET think Trout won?

Wow I'm shocked. Even with just the press row scores.

I through t it would be a lot clearer in Canelos favor

                      I had 114-113 for Canelo.

But I just mean because I haven't seen a lot of writers call this decision controversial when these scores say otherwise.

A rematch should probably happen but it won't
