After 8 rounds the scores were 80-71, 78-73 and 76-75 for Alvarez. One of the judges didn't give Trout 1 round of the first 8.

Canelo clearly won in a close fight. The 115 -113 scorecard was on point. No way trout won that fight

It was a close fight but with regard to the totals bear in mind as an American fighter Trout is going to get a lift with the fan's scores.

The press scores look about right. 23 Canelo, 19 Trout, 3 draw.

You scored the fight close, but Trout knowing he couldn't win on points and Canelo knowing he just had to survive obviously had an affect on how both fighters approached the final rounds. I have no doubt that Canelo wouldn't have bee in safe mode and Trout would have focused more on boxing instead of trying to get KO.

You might not know this because you're from the U.K. or wherever, but most boxing fans in the U.S. are Mexican-Americans (part of the reason why Mexican and Mexican-American fighters are so marketable here). If anything the fan scores would be biased towards Canelo.

The press favored Canelo, but an outpouring of fans scored it for Trout. I doubt many of the people who have claimed Trout won even bothered to watch the fight, they just checked the compubox stats afterward and have tried to make a case.
