Did open scoring hurt the Canelo Trout fight?

I was rooting for Trout but I think Canelo edged him out. He got the KD, he landed the better, cleaner, harder shots, and he evaded the majority of Trout's big shots/combos. Trout looked like Cotto from their last fight, struggling to find anything.

Yeah Forced Trout to fight out of he's comfort zone and Canelo just coasted when he knew he had it in the bag . Not to mention took out a lot of excitement out of it as a fan.

If you're in a competitive fight, and someone tells you haven't won 1 round, it can deflate your sail.
Did it hurt the fight? Maybe, maybe not. It sure as hell didn't help it.

there's nothing good to be gained from open scoring
all it can do is change how the fighters would fight otherwise
guys ahead will slow down, guys too far behind might quit
can't say for sure what direct effect it had on this fight
maybe Alvarez cutting off a bit toward the end
