Comments Thread For: Andre Ward Give Full Review of Donaire-Rigondeaux

Andre Ward was ringside for his childhood friend Nonito Donaire’s Saturday night title loss to Guillermo Rigondeaux in New York City’s Radio City Music Hall, and the super middleweight world champion gave Comcast SportsNet Bay Area his take on the fight.

“From a personal standpoint, I’m disappointed, but you gotta take your hat off to Rigondeaux. He did what he had to do,” Ward said. “These things happen in boxing, especially when you have a guy like Nonito, who’s fighting the best, fight in and fight out.

“He’s not getting soft touches. There’s no machine pushing him and trying to make him into a star. He’s making himself a star by fighting the best, and when you fight the best, these kind of things happen. Nonito didn’t get beat up tonight. He fought a competitive fight. It just didn’t go his way.” [Click Here To Read More]

Well at least he admitted he was biased. So I can't be mad when he's lying about the fight being competitive, which it was not.

Agreed. I think he just said that because he's a friend of Nonito, because the rest of what he said make you believe that he really believes that it was a clear win for Rigo.

I was just asking someone what Ward felt of the fight.

I find it interesting that Ward given his type of boxing didn't praise Rigo a bit more. Nonito had no answer for Rigondeuex, completely outmatched, outclassed, outpointed. This being said I'm still a huge Donaire fan and wish him the best. Nonito will bounce back not too sure if Bobby wants to do a rematch.
Got a feeling Arum is going to put Rigo in time out and slap him on the wrist for being such a bad boy, that is until he figures who to match him up against.

" Nonito didn’t get beat up tonight. He fought a competitive fight."

What? So he just invented a new defensive stance where the right hand is glued to the right eye because that stance increases his effectiveness and visibility for incoming punches? He may have fought a competitive round in round 10 but that was about it.

Donaire couldn't have done nothing differently to change the outcome Rigo great counter skills kept him defensive he wouldn't commit to throwing more than one big shot at a time he knew a left hand was coming back immediately Rigo beat him at his own game counter punching

This is not "WAR"..For RIGO's fan well of course, they're happy with the results. But for real "boxing" fan who want and pay for action pack,,,BORING...
RIGO won as an amateur fight it is,playing safe and run all along, and try to engage in last round only. Cong**** to him but hate me or not,not for the boxing fan
