i can see how the fight would seem competitive to someone sitting ringside. on tape it's a different story.

RIGO won as an amateur fight it is,playing safe and run all along, and try to engage in last round only. Cong**** to him but hate me or not,not for the boxing fan
Well, I suppose that S.O.G. is more entertaining while mimicking "the old school inside boxing" style.

“He’s not getting soft touches. There’s no machine pushing him and trying to make him into a star. He’s making himself a star by fighting the best, and when you fight the best, these kind of things happen. Nonito didn’t get beat up tonight. He fought a competitive fight. It just didn’t go his way.” [Click Here To Read More]
It's a bummer that Arum, media and some "fans of the sport" on the champion's promotional potential. He deserves to be praised for putting on a show. He made it look easy. I liked him before, but he made me a fan this weekend!

Great read. Personally I am truly impressed with Rigo. I had a feeling he was going pull it off. I enjoyed the fight through and through. I like a good knockout like the next person, though admittedly, I am a fan of the technical aspect of the sport i.e., actually boxing. It would have been nice to see more exchanges but overall this fight illustrates how awesome a technical fighter like Rigo can execute a game plan and make an already great fighter like Donaire look real bad.

It's really funny and sad in the same breath how often casual fans, media, fighters and promoters are bias towards certain fighters and root for the losers by making excuses for them because they are a fan. I thought Rigondeaux had no shot but he proved me wrong and I'm proud of the display he put on. He made me a fan and look forward to watching him fight again. Too many B!tc# asses nowadays. Give the man his damn due. Dude won and made it look easy and he was the under dog.

A casual fan is someone that only likes brawls and nothing but knockdowns and knockouts. Boxing purists likes a lot of the same things also but they also like what Rigo showed. They like they slip and moving along with the pot shots and counters he was throwing. He showed that he could move around the ring with intelligence creating openings i didn't see any running really.
Hit and don't get hit is the name of the game. Maybe you'd be saying something different if Rigo was more aggressive but that is not how he fights he fights smart. So he got caught in one of the rounds but then what happened? He sure f-u-c-k-e-d up Nonito's eye in the 12th and he was backing up for a good portion of that last round.
Also don't forget he did stand in front of him for like the first 2 or 3 rounds and then decided to move and as he started doing that he was catching Nonito with some good shots.
So i believe you're a boxing fan but maybe just a casual boxing fan with some knowledge of the sport. I'm not saying a whole lot or anything like that but i enjoyed the hell out of the fight and watching those slick moves from Rigo impressed me. And it was a fight i thought he had a good chance of losing.

Ward's starting to irritate me. He should have said "no comment" when asked about the fight. No way this fight was remotely competitive (I had it 118-109), even with the knockdown (which came off of a push-off). Donaire didn't take Rigo seriously & paid for it dearly. Not to mention that Garcia was all up Rios' butt like a gerbil for most of the camp. So, it was both of their faults, but the onus really falls on Donaire. He had no problems making weight before, but this time he had to shed some for the weigh-in? He knew (despite his slick talk) that Rigo was a problem, that's why he brought up his knee, weight (he must pregnant with his wife), etc. afterwards. I have no respect for Donaire whatsoever after this fight - just give the man his propers & keep it moving.
