He gave good advice. Nonito came in with the most basic gameplan. It's simple: if Rigo gets low when you throw, then adapt! Feint with the left, right hand downstairs! Rigo is a master boxer, so he'll adapt, and then it's up to Donaire to keep moving in, punching in bunches, looking to put pressure on him. His basic gameplan of throwing 1 KO punch at a time didn't work, and we never saw the plan B. Shameful performance, followed by dozens of excuses. I lost a little love for Nonito last night, but a great performance from Rigo (even though the sprinting at times was a little much).

Nonito Donaire should have put more pressure attacking Rigo after he scored a knockdown in the 10th, but, I have to give credit for Rigo for his counterpuching and big heart. Nonito should rest awhile and go up in the 126lbs Featherweight Division. Rigo's style reminds me of Floyd Jr.

Ward should refrain from putting himself in controversial conversations. Nonito was clearly throwing a very smart uppercut aimed at Rigo's head and chest when he was bending but Rigo began to neutralize it by ducking away and catching some of them with his gloves. Bottom line Rigo was the better fighter last night and deserves all his props. Ward should be talking about why Rigo won not why Nonito didn't. I saw this loss coming 3 fights ago, just took someone worthy to do it. Nonito is overrated and people should not be letting his loss overshadow Rigo's great win.Last edited by Sugar Q; 04-14-2013, 07:32 PM.

Ward knows all too well that Rigo was in full control of this fight and was the greater fighter.
Rigo neutralized Donaire's offense and stayed one step ahead of him no matter what he tried to do. Ward knows full well that Rigo won almost every round, he just won't admit it because Donaire is his pal.
Ward does the same thing to his opponents. He probably knew Donaire was going to lose after the first couple of rounds.
