I don't know, i'm a huge fan of that style. The style is obviously not for every one. I like Mayweather, Hopkins, Ward, Wlad, Marquez [who's a little more exciting than these guys but still a smart counterpuncher for the most part], and now Rigondeaux has a place in my list with these guys.

The thing I'm taking into consideration are.

1st and most important his style. Toy have slick boxers and then you have guys like Rigo. I don't think he can be compared to Mayweather. Its two different things. Maywesther woes his opponent in while kind of standing his ground and pot shots and picks him apart. Rigo outboxes toy without much fireworks.

2nd Casual fans ,which we say we don't care but sometimes they are that factor needed to make huge fights. They will buy fights based on names. And its a sad reality but a reality nonetheless.

3rd . Small weight classes aren't that attractive to casual fans. Who are the biggest names down there?

4rd. Fan base , Cubans don't go all out for their fighters like other nationalities. And I'm talking about the ones in the state's. I know their situation. Still I feel like the ones in the state's don't really follow their fighters as other countries do.

Look at the new article "Arum expects a big struggle to promote Rigondeaux"

I guess he will be the greatest underpaid fighter.

I get it that the "purists" like to pat themselves on the back and think they are somehow more "evolved" than the rest of us. I wasn't completely bored by the fight, but to be honest it would take a meaningful opponent to get me even remotely interested in a Rigo fight. Yes, he is talented. Sick talent. But that in and of itself isnt compelling enough. There are ways to use brilliant defense without turning it into a track meet. Look at Floyd, or a prime Toney, or a prime Roy, or Pernell. Subtle shifts, move a foot here, 6 inches there, just enough. Not backpeddling all over the ring.

After the 5th round, the only drama in the fight was wondering if Donaire was ever gonna land anything meaningful. Sorry, but that does not drive the average viewer, and make no mistake, the average viewer is what dictates what fights will sell. The promoters and networks know full well that the hardcore fan will watch regardless.

Why on earth would Mares fight him? Even taking the GB-TR thing out of the equation, its a tough fight, for no money, and Mares would be the one selling the tickets, so why do it?

Reality is reality. Sure, Rigo is 100 times more skilled than Rios or Alvarado. But that doesnt put butts in the seats, and never will.

I dont know what some of you were watching...

He did mix it up and he did fight......Did I watch a different fight?

That was a solid fight and in no way was it boring. They exchanged and fought I never seen Rigo run....never the whole fight......footwork and movement is not running.

            I will watch him again...

And as much as you all would like to talk **** about selling fights and such...no one cares. The man will fight and it will be on TV.

              You see what I'm seeing.

Its the sad reality. Calderon had the advantage of being able to fight in P.R. Rigo doesn't even have that opportunity.

This is why belts are important. Rigondeaux doesn't need to worry about being entertaining as long as he holds the titles.

Totally agree with you on this and it truly is sad. This man just dominated a top p4p fighter and the supposed next star in boxing after pacquaio retires and you cant promote him??? lol bob arum is a joke. He's 32 years old so how much more fights is he gonna have. Maybe tell him to go to 126 and win a few more titles and cement his legacy. Imo after that performance last night.. everyone will duck him. He doesnt make enough money or draw is what they will say, but who beats him? Mares, Garcia or gamboa dont. Rigondeaux is amazing and because of his amatuer history and what he did in the pros in so little fights should be regarded as one of the greatest boxers ever. Assuming he wins more titles like i think he will. This is a joke and very sad.

That's the first thing I thought yesterday when the 12th round was over. How much sweeter this win would be if his family was here.

Rigo made one of the best fighters look ordinary, he fought the perfect fight against Donaire. Look at Donaire's face after the fight he took a beating physically and mentally. He was used to beating up little midgets with no hope and when he was at the pressers and even the staredown he was trying to intimidate Rigo with the whole eye balling crap and Rigo made him look like a duck. The truth of the matter is on his 12th pro fight Rigo beat one if the best fighters in the world. Give me Rigo against Mares,Garcia or a fight with Darchinyan hear in Miami and I'm definitely go watch the master at his craft. This is a huge win for Rigo and the boxing world wants to down play it smh
