The sad part of Rigo winning

That he probably won't have success when it comes selling fights. Just because of his style. I enjoyed a lot the beautiful display he put on. But casual fans don't appreciate this. They want brawlers and fireworks and knockdowns and blood.

You won't get any of that with Rigo. Every hardcore boxing fan knows he is a master boxer who won't risk much and won't engage much. He doesn't waste punches , he doesn't waste any energy and he won't risk anything for the fans.

All of this will hurt his marketability. When you can't attract fans , you can't get the big bucks ,and when you can't get the big bucks people won't go after you.

I saw the fight yesterday with my neighbors which are Cuban , and some of them didn't even know it was Rigobdeaux fighting , they thought it was Gamboa. It wasn't a party but it was pretty loud. Ricans and Cubans are loud , and by the time it was over there were people asleep. My girl loves boxing and she coudlnt even watch.

Rigid style won't be appreciated by casual fans and I believe he wont get the type of treatment he deserves and he won't be a big draw because of his style.

    Kind of sucks.......

I don't care how much the casual fan or the uneducated brawl lovers don't like Rigo winning, that performance was some of the best I've ever seen and I loved all 12 rounds of it. And I'm going to watch it like 5 more times this week, maybe more.

I agree but that's not the point. I recorded it and already watched it again and saw more impressive things the second time around.

But my concern is Rigo not being a big enough draw so we can get more of this type of fights.

In his previous fights he was fighting not so good opponents and they were calling those fight boring. And yesterday he had his whole arsenal on display , which consist of slick and master boxing and you have a lot of dissapointed fans.

I don't care if he sells or not. He has set his legacy and put on a great performance while representing Cuban boxing along with a Cuban trainer.

I'm not a just a guy who wants to see a brawl and blood. I like the sweet science but that last night wasn't any sweet science that was just plain disgraceful. I don't wanna watch a guy who wants to fight for only 5 seconds of every round and avoid the fight for the rest of the round.

He'll do some decent gates and make good money. Hopefully the $750K payday can bring his family up from Cuba.

He'd probably be much bigger if boxers were allowed to go pro, come and go to Cuba to be received well when they got a title. If Rigo keeps beating guys like Abner, Ponce, j.Gonzalez, he'll make a legacy. Beating Donaire was a huge win.

But i disagree with you. Especially if you not a young boxing fan and have followed Floyd Mayweather or Pernal Whitiker.

What Rigo needs its big name fighters at, or around his weight class. Well, he just took out the biggest name and fighter at his weight class. IF he wants to keep the ball rolling he needs to go after the Mexicans. Theres some competition there, am not familier with the lower weight class.
