The sad part of Rigo winning

It will be just like Calderon , he was a pure boxer. Calderon fought mainly in P.R because of that. Not attracting fighters. And I'm sorry I'm not trying to take aim at Cubans but they don't support their fighters like Ricans do. Or at least I haven't seen them do it yet. I'm talking about casual fans here. He'd probably be much bigger if boxers were allowed to go pro, come and go to Cuba to be received well when they got a title. If Rigo keeps beating guys like Abner, Ponce, j.Gonzalez, he'll make a legacy. Beating Donaire was a huge win.
But i disagree with you. Especially if you not a young boxing fan and have followed Floyd Mayweather or Pernal Whitiker.
What Rigo needs its big name fighters at, or around his weight class. Well, he just took out the biggest name and fighter at his weight class. IF he wants to keep the ball rolling he needs to go after the Mexicans. Theres some competition there, am not familier with the lower weight class.
I
Rigo will have to fight in Miami and attract the Cuban fans for a few fights and then hope there's a big name out there and see if a ppv fight can be made. Hopefully in Vegas.
Donaire doesn't even have a huge following and he was the one that sold the fight. I would say Donaires following is around 3 times bigger than Rico's and how big is that really?Comment

Idk if y'all are familiar with the Cuban situation but its a little more complicated than just "get money and bring them here".Originally posted by hougigoQuote:

How much does it usually cost?

It's really unfortunate that the casuals can't appreciate the brilliance of Rigo, but it's their loss.
All he has to do is keep looking sensational in the ring and everything will take care of itself. Most of Rigo's fans seem to be Cuban or British...not sure how that will translate to viewers when he's fighting in the states but if he feels comfortable moving up, there are big money fights for him at 126.Comment

Those fighter you mentioned actually engage and mix it up. Not saying Rigo can't , he just doesn't do it. B-Hop doesn't just box people out of his socks. Neither does Mayhweather or Ward.
I believe there's a difference there. And there's the weight issue. The lower weight classes always have that problem.Comment

Don't Matter!
Man came from NOTHING so if he can make $500k-1 Million a fight for the rest of his Pro Career I am sure Rigo would be more then happy with that
None of you are getting any of that money, why are fans so focused on Ticket Sales, PPV Buy and all that other stuff as if your getting a check from how well your favorite fighter sales
Rigondeaux will be fine! If a new opponent emerges that will become a big fight regardless of Rigo style, Mares vs Rigondeaux would be a pretty big fight but the problem will be finding quality OPPONENTS for Rigondeaux,Last edited by KnockUTheFukOut; 04-14-2013, 01:55 PM.Comment
