Nah, it won't happen. First, it seems unlikely Golovkin would fight on Showtime anytime soon and that's where Hopkins is stuck thanks to his silly business partners.
Further, it is my opinion that if Golovkin beats Macklin, Sergio Martinez will fight him later in the year. Why am I so certain you ask? Because fat ass Chavez won't be back at 160, not with Olympic style testing anyway and that's what Sergio has demanded. So if no Chavez who is the biggest fight for Sergio? It's Golovkin. Quillin is stuck on Showtime, that won't happen. Sturm/Geale/Soliman are all being gay overseas. No money fight besides GGG.
this man speaks the truth. Chavez Jr would be a good possibility for Hopkins if he gets a few wins at 167.

That's true, but if DiBella does not make Martinez vs Golovkin, which would be really one of the biggest fights to make from 140-160, if Golovkin beats Macklin. Golovkin would probably become desperate to fight a big name and go up to either 168 to fight the guys there like Chavez Jr, or Pavlik, or the winner of Kessler-Froch II, or go all the way up to 175 to fight Hopkins, Pascal-Bute winner, Dawson-Stevenson winner. Though i'm not too sure about this, it seems like it's just something he and his handlers are saying to make him look badass, but actually doing it [going up to 168-175] is a different story.
As a Hopkins fan, and a growing Golovkin fan, Golovkin needs to stay away from Hopkins. Like I said when Golovkin first expressed interest in fighting Hopkins, that is music to Hopkins ears. I can only imagine a big smile on Hopkins face when he read that Golovkin wants him at 175. Those 12 rounds would feel so long, that Golovkin would feel like he just went through Kindergarten, Elementary school, Jr High, High School and graduated the University of Bernard Hopkins with a Masters Degree in Boxing, all in one night.
I can see school definitely in session, this would be Hopkins-Pavlik 2.0.. The reality and shock that would hit GGG would make him feel like he had been lied to.
IBF light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins (53-6-2, 32KOs) has responded to last month's statement by WBA/IBO middleweight king Gennady Golovkin (26-0, 23KOs). Golovkin said he would move up by two weight divisions to face Hopkins, a move that Hopkins did years ago when he moved up from 160 to 175 to challenge Antonio Tarver. Hopkins defends his title against mandatory challenger Karo Murat in July or August and Golovkin defends his belts against Matthew Macklin on June 29th.
I like hopkins but I think he would be in over his head even at 175. The guys bernard has been beating the last few years have been less than stellar boxers. GGG is a very good boxer who happens to hit ridiculously hard. He's not a wild slugger.
