Voted yes. Pacquiao is a huge draw but Marquez is gonna bring in a lot more than he did before, this time around. People wanna see if he can repeat history.
Should Marquez Get 50% of The Pacquiao 5 Purse?

My knee jerk reaction is hell yes but the fact of the matter is, Pacquiao is the one putting asses in the seats and drawing in the PPV buys. That can't be overlooked. I guess 50/50 and then Pacquiao getting the lion's share of the PPV earnings is fair. I don't think the fight will happen though, as much as I want it to.Comment

I voted yes. Normally I would have voted no because I think Pacquiao is still the bigger draw and fighters these days are payed by the money they bring in. But in this case Pacquiao needs the rematch and Marquez does not. It leaves him in a position to tell Pacquiao to take it or leave it. I want Pacquiao to take it. Give Marquez his 50% and have the 5th fight.Comment

Just because Marquez may be Pacquaios biggest 'known' payday at the time doesn't mean a 50/50 split is deserved. Put it this way, whomever Pacquaio fights will pretty surely sell more than whomever Marquez fights unless it's Mayweather.
Pacquaio can fight different people and still walk away with a big purse, Marquez on the other hand cannot. Marquez will be taking a financial risk if he decides to fight someone else, especially if he loses.
Marquez should get a pay increase, but not even remotely close to 50/50, that's crazy.
Bottom line, you're saying 50/50 isn't deserved, he just stopped the guy after three prior close fights (one of which was a robbery), how much more deserved can you get?
If it's a 50-50 split, Pacquiao could probably make almost as much fighting another TR name like Rios, Alvarado, or Bradley. That's assuming those fights do approx. 700K buys like Manny-Bradley did, and Manny-JMM 5 does around 1.2M. Obviously that's because Manny can demand a major split in his favour against those other opponents.
Therein lies the problem. For JMM vs Bradley, you'd be looking at 500K as really good numbers, maybe even unrealistically optimistic. A 70-30 split in JMM's favour, even then, would net him less than a 30% split in the Pacquiao fight. Even an 80-20 split in his favour would fall substantially short of a 40% split against Manny.
I would imagine the figures would increase on their last meeting, moreover if Pacquiao were to win the fight, his subsequent fight would do even higher numbers.
On a boxing level, after 4 close fights, 50-50 is fair.
lol Marquez deserves 50% but Pacquiao doesn't. Just another FMJ roadblock for a fight he was scared to take. Gtfoh with that claptrap.Comment

I am really starting to get the feeling that Marquez is truly not interested in this fight. Or at least is trying to leverage how much Manny wants a rematch against the proper split that should be given.
Clearly based on drawing power they split should not be 50-50 but there are extenuating circumstances that have altered the normal state of negotiation between these two.
In the 3 other fights it was them coming to the bargaining table after a close decision where both were wanting to get a definitive win. This time they are negotiating with one of them having a very large chip to leverage against the other: A clean knock out.
The fight does not seem to carry the same weight with Marquez that it used to. He doesn't sound hungry to get back in the ring. Manny has to feel a little ansy in that at the time of the knockout he was in control.
Basically if Marquez really doesn't want the fight then having his offer turned down doesn't mean much to him. This all comes down to how much Manny is willing to give for a shot at redemption.Comment

Whatever other fight Marquez does outside a Floyd fight he won't make as much as another fight against Pac.
But still Marquez should get at minimum 50%, he argubly won the third fight and KOed Pac cold in a great fight. Pac needs this fight more than Marquez does.Comment
