Freddie Roach: Marquez Wants About 50 - 50, it's a Bit Outrageous

I think a 50/50 split is a legit demand for Marquez. Tbh I don't even think Pac even wants to fight Marquez again he's not calling Marquez out at all. After getting dropped in the third round then getting put to sleep in the 6th round it might be a mental thing with Pac now.

Did you also aware all these guys (Oscar, Hatton, Mosley, Cotto) Pac beat the crap out of them easily in one sided fashion and almost didn't make a sweat of doing so?

"My gut instinct on what is next? I want it to be Marquez, Manny wants Marquez, but Marquez wants a lot, lot, lot of money," Roach (seen with Pacquiao in above Chris Farina-Top Rank photo, before the fourth bout) told me. "I think it's a little outrageous. It may not happen. We might have to go to Mike Alvarado or Brandon Rios or a Tim Bradley rematch could be made. I want Marquez right away, Manny and I both want it. But Marquez wants just about a 50-50 split. Manny brings butts in seats, pay-per-view-wise, Manny is the guy. Obviously Manny deserves more. I think a rematch will make a lot more money than the last fight. I think both sides can ask for more and Marquez deserves something, but not 50-50."

the amount of money marquez gets will be based on the amount of money manny could get without him.
i don't know what those numbers would be, but i do believe that manny's drawing power still outweighs marquez in terms of PPV buys.
yes, marquez brought the majority of the fans to their last fight, but the gate isn't what generate the huge numbers in a megafight. those are generated in PPV sales. 70 bucks a pop, 500,000 to 1,000,000 times or more.
Also due to the loss that Pacquiao suffered in his last fight, and especially if he revisists a Bradley rematch(which was not an exciting fight the first time), these are two factors I believe will affect Pacquiao's PPV sales. If Pacquiao did around 900k buys for the first Bradley fight when the potential Mayweather fight was still in the air(I believe this drove up both Pacquiao and Mayweather's PPV sales). I personally do not see Pacquiao vs Bradley II hitting 900k.
This of course is all my opinion and could be wrong.

A major reason Pac-Mayweather never happened was because both sides had really sweet alternatives if the negotiations fell through. Manny went on to do 1M+ PPV buys against Margarito, Mosley, and Marquez. Floyd did the same against Mosley, Ortiz, and Cotto.
When that's your fallback option you're not really under much pressure to get the job done.
The reality here is what JMM's alternatives are. How many PPV buys could he realistically do against a Bradley or a Rios? If he could do 500,000, then with the power he would have over a Rios or a Bradley in terms of the split might mean it's worth his while to go that route. The difference between that and a Pacquiao fight might not be enough for him to offer Manny the 5th fight.
Is 500k realistic? I don't know, it seems high given that Pacquiao only did 700k against Bradley.
