even though marquez won by ko pac and floyd are the only legit ppv headliners who are proven 1mill ppv stars.

just remember the last time marquez tried to strike it as his own ppv star it was a horrible disaster vs casamayor selling under 100k with blacked out seats in vegas.

i will say that marquez clearly and deserves a much bigger cut than he has taken in previous pac fights on the sole fact that he just ko'd him. He doesnt deserve more nor would i be against equal split, but he definitely has earned a bigger share than previous pac fights.

In reality, when making a fight like this, you take the star power of BOTH fighters and what they bring to the table in terms of money.

Pac is without a doubt a bigger star than JMM, there's no dis*****g that. He's a world wide icon in the sport and has been making huge paydays for along time.

I think 50/50 is fair but I can understand when Roach says that it isn't fair because Manny is going to bring the bulk of the viewership.

It may not be something fans like or even understand but it's the way it is.
If Marquez doesn't even get 50-50 then he should just leave Manny hanging with that TKO loss for life. That, and the fact that Marquez should have gotten the nod in the previous fight too, and the first two were so close there was no clear winner though a lot people thought Marquez also won the second one, would eat Manny up for the rest of his life. Give the man his 50% and try to get your revenge.

In a sport as corrupt as boxing only an idiot would agree to that. Look at JMM/Pac III.

why do fans always propose % splits for the winner of the fight?

to my knowledge it has never happened before and i doubt any promoter or fighter ever will.

i still dont understand why he didnt want revenge with bradley the **** is not all about money..and awhile back wasnt manny giving lip service on ESPN about taking less(even though arum and roach will say otherwise) money regarding another fight

JMM vs Tim Bradley makes my mouth water. Make it happen, Juan.

I thought Pacquiao isn't about the money? Pacquiao all about legacy? Well even though he sells more than JMM and brings bums to seat he might have to enhance his legacy and do a 50-50.

It takes two, Casamayor is not a good PPV candidate.

                    Marquez-Barrera sold 230k
                    Marquez-Pacquiao II sold 400k
                    Marquez-Mayweather 1.1Mill
Marquez-Pacquiao III and IV probably sold a little over 2Mill combined, or just about that #.

Marquez is a good PPV candidate, but like every big fight, there needs to be another popular name to sell. For example Marquez-Cotto, or Marquez-Hatton would do decent #'s, Marquez-Broner would be decent as well. None of those are exactly giant PPV stars by themselves, but with Marquez they would be.

Mayweather and Pacquiao didn't start selling in the million range until they fought Oscar. I'm sure if Marquez would have fought Oscar, with his already 200-400k PPV fights, he would have also gotten that boost. Not everyone gets that DLH boost though, it takes some one who can already sell and has established a good sized fanbase. For example, Hopkins failed to get that boost.

I'm not opposed to that but again, that's not good business sense. I think JMM is going to fight Pac again, that's the only fight out there for him IMO.

He could fight Bradley, Rios or even Alvarado but he won't make the money he would with Pac. At 39 years old, this is most likely his last fight and he understands that by him beating Pac, he guaranteed himself a nice retirement payday.

He could take the other fights, but it would be for less. He takes the Pac fight, and even though he might not be making more than Pac, it still would be his highest payday to date.
