Look at the fight of the year nominations every year. It's always the tear-ups which are nominated because that is what people want to see, two exciting fighters going at it producing a spectacle. It's not personal opinion, it's common opinion.

It's not FMJ's boxing that sells the tickets anyway, until he lost his mobility he was criticised for being boring and his fights stunk the joint out.

but fuck changing the rules of boxing, that's crazy
the ring rules are good; it's a fight but it stays professional
Every other sport changes its rules. Soccer, rugby, US football and boxing (e.g. reduction in number of rounds). The sport needs to keep progressing.

We need less Brandon Rios and Pacquiao styled fighters and more Broner type fighters.

So you're saying you want more fighters like Rios?.
Although entertaining, to an extent, I'd rather go stand in front of a pub on a saturday night than pay to watch somebody like Rios.

As for Mayweather, until he lost his mobility, watch him box was a joy to behold.

I remember one of his combinations in the Gatti fight. He feinted a jab to the body, stepped in with a straight right, pivoted to his right and landed a left hook to the head, followed with a right to the body, another left hook, then a body - head combination with the right while stepping out.

He threw a 6 punches combination while moving, landing 5 punches.
You can dislike Mayweather, hate his style, despise him as a human being, and I won't argue with you; but saying that Mayweather is a bore while Rios is what boxing needs is just crazy in my opinion.

Regarding the evolution of the sport, well, if evolution means 10 belts per division, and I don't know how many weight classes, I'd rather be conservative and go back to 1 belt per division and less weight classes.

More fighters like Golovkin, Froch, Pacquiao, Pascal, Matthysse, Alvarez, Cotto etc. Fighters who readily and consistently engage.

Ironically, that's what most people do because the boxing isn't consistently entertaining enough to keep them in!

I have no issue with the latter day Mayweather, his fights are entertaining now but for a long time they weren't.

I didn't say every evolution has been positive but boxing should strive to produce a better product like the other sports.

why weren't his fight entertaining? Most people enjoy watching greatness. An expert as his craft is infinitely more entetaining than watching two subpar boxers beat the crap out of each other.

In any other sport a blowout is appreciated. I know your a big Hatton fan, but i think boxing is evolving away from brawlers/****ers and emphasizing more skill.
