This is a striking sport so why the hell is clinching allowed? It should be pure striking, if you clinch you loose points! No wrestling no hugging! 0! Shoulder barge push em fine no hugging!

The whole scoring points thing has to change, it just encourages punching without power, it becomes tag instead of trying to hurt and take your opponent out! They should judge it differently. Many ways this can be done!

Smaller rings should be used more often/always so running is more difficult, and its more action packed, I mean not many real fights have the luxory of a wide open space, why should boxing?

You get the point a few changes could make a huge difference!

Much better if Floyd retired for good. No more fake OST, fake retirements and fake vacations to avoid tough opponents in their prine.

He's the man for whom that phrase was invented-He's got a real head for boxing........

Many of his opponents would have said "a steel head".

Yes, it's the preserve of the 'runner' in the sport, hit...run away and not get hit.

Let's be honest, no one wants to watch a fighter jab and run for 12 rounds, that's why tear-ups are called great fights and jab and run affairs are called boring.

The OP is right, boxing could be a lot more exciting than it currently is. A smaller ring could be the way forward.

No, I don't think the rules should be changed to favor pointless mauling.

Boxing is called "sweet science" for a reason.

If you don't like boxing, no problem. There is no shame in enjoying MMA, UFC or Wrestling.
Why changing the sport so many, myself included, love, while there are plenty other sports where you can see blood and action?.

Boxing could use a overhaul, starting with investigations into the crooked ABC groups.

Most come-forward boxers don't maul. The come-forward boxers are the exciting ones people want to watch.

I'm a boxing fan, but I want to watch good fights every time, not just once every two months.

The sport is underachieving imo, it has the potential to be so much more.

Empty rhetoric to be honest. They can call it what they like but if it's boring and people don't want to watch, they call it irrelevant.

Everybody is entitled to their opinion, in mine an 'entertaining' fight is not necessarily good.

As for the sport underachieving, it may be so, but making it a sort of mauling fest, as the thread seems to suggest, would not help. It wouldn't be boxing anymore.

You can of course prefer come forward fighters, I never said anything about it. Changing gloves, rules and ring size is an entirely different matter.

Last but not least, it's called "sweet science" because there is a technique behind it, reasoning, not only brute force. There is intelligence as well as there is heart.

You may not like it, and we can agree to disagree, but if we discuss about empty rhetorics, it's rhetorical to say that a come forward fighter will necessarily give a 'good' fight, or a better fight than a boxer.
