Last but not least, it's called "sweet science" because there is a technique behind it, reasoning, not only brute force. There is intelligence as well as there is heart.

When the rules of boxing were established and along the way they didnt know what it would evolve into, had they known they probably would have changed the rules! Since the old days of boxing were far more brutal and closer to a real fight!

Dont get attached to the identity of boxing, it can be made so much better, if anything its lost its identity!

Im not talking about a pure maulfest, but just tipping the rules towards more action that we practically all want to see and less lamer tactics that pretty much none of us want to see!

It has to be a fight, the science of boxing will still be there, but not the science of point tag etc !

I third the motion to please ban the OP. The m0ron is advocating/calling for the sweet science to be turned into MMA/WWE. What an unthinking, ****-fighting, devlish advocate!

Hahaha! This satiric answer single-handedly puts the funny OP in his place. Thanks.

would love to see more KO's in fights
it's always better than decisions if it's a real KO
but fuck changing the rules of boxing, that's crazy
the ring rules are good; it's a fight but it stays professional

If you don't like boxing, no problem. There is no shame in enjoying MMA, UFC or Wrestling.
Why changing the sport so many, myself included, love, while there are plenty other sports where you can see blood and action?.
My sentiments exactly...couldn't have put it any better.

Empty rhetoric to be honest. They can call it what they like but if it's boring and people don't want to watch, they call it irrelevant.
You're just propagating your personal opinion, preference, and choice as fact, and that is wrong, to say the least.

And who constitute this "they" you speak of? "They" are certainly in the minority compared to the millions of ordinary and PPV a$$es a flghter such as FMJ puts in seats each time he fights?

The two aren't mutually exclusive, the sport does need another Tyson especially to bring in the youth and casuals and get boxing on the front page again but why less Mayweathers ?

TBH, I think you're the primitive one here. All these attempts at trying to re-write or re-suppose the history of boxing in your image is just B.S. You're basically writing inuendoe by saying stuff such as "if they had known...," which is tantamount to saying your opinion is supperior.

Actually, you should just learn to speak for youself, as more and more human beings move away from being blood hounds.

As luck would have it though, boxing has actually evolved, as more and more rules/traditions are introduced in attempts at enhancing the safety and preserve the life of fighters - not the introduction of further/more brutality.

Remember the universal reduction in the number of rounds in a championship fight from 15 to 12? More of that sort of safety-induced thinking will do, NOT the introduction of bare-knuckles primitiveness into this sweet science of ours. Sorry.
