I do hope that someone in the boxing press questions GBP about why this is being done.

They are usually far too soft in investigating and asking tough questions of promoters.

          They're fanboys, that's why.

Brandon Rios is coming off a loss and isn't even ranked by the IBF. Why would he be fighting for it?

Not exactly a rocket scientist, are you?

I'm still excited for the fight, but I must say this takes away from it a bit..

This. GBP is crooked as hell but **** it, the matchups are good which is all that matters. And the winner will most likely get an immediate title shot against the Garcia/Judah winner.

                    Very strange.

                    they keep their titles.

peterson's going to keep his, and that's probably the intention. he sells well, and he't not good enough to beat lucas mathysse.

i like mathysse, but he does not sell yet. at all.

it's a b#tch move to make, but i can see why they're doing it. they're covering their bases to make sure peterson has a big gate at his next fight (after he loses,) probably in DC.

                      likewise.

the champion in the division is garcia. he and kahn were 1 and 2 when they fought, and the championship was vacant.

the rest of the belts really don't mean anything anyway, at least not to me.

they do to the casual fan, though. selling tickets to casuals is a hell of a lot easier when you've got a "world championship" fight
