it's a big accomplishment especially for a foreign fighter to win a title here in the US. maybe not for us but, i'm sure it means a lot to their fans back home too. there were parades in argentina when matthysse and maidana won their interim belts lol.Ultimately, none of these guys will be allowed to unify anyway. I don't like it, but I don't care that much. As long as the winner gets Garcia. I understand why someone would be angry about this, but I care about belts far less than most people. They haven't held any prestige for anyone other than fighters for a long time.
Now, if Matthysse were to come out and say that he hates this, that he wants Peterson's belt, and that he doesn't like Golden Boy screwing him out of this chance, I'd change my tune. Fighters take belts much more seriously than fans. I'm assuming he agreed, though.Comment

Marquez (Top Rank) is the WB0 champion. It would be interesting to see what he does in his next fight. He can fight Bradley (titleholder) at 147 and most likely vacates the WB0 title at 140. He can stay at 140 but like u say it would be hard for any top rank fighter to compete in that division.this is a smart move by GBP, they don't want to loose any belts (if they did Arum would want to grab it) so by keeping the belts off the match then GBP still will have most of the tittles making any other promoter force to not have a champ in the 140lb division and if they want a champ they gotta go thru GBP, I am sure that if one of the belt holders from GBP would be strip Arum would contact that organization and have Rios and Alvarado or any other fight fight for it but as it stand GBP has them so Arum is screwed also if their were to be some new up an coming 140lb fighters they would want to sign with GBP because they will hold the majority if not all the belts, think about it how difficult would it be for Arum to get a belt or two in the 140lb division?? very tuff huh? this way we get to see the fights we want and then after all the battles GBP still has all the champs in 140lb and 147lb. when the time comes Garcia will have to drop one of his regardless but I a sure you Broner will be the one going down to 140lb and fight for it just watch, very smart move by GBP that is why they are on top.Comment

I was hearing from a source of mine that some political **** was going on behind doors with the GBP 140 pound soldiers....so this news doesn't suprise me....it just makes me happy that Danny will touch up Lucas in the fall and alot of dudes will be bowing down....#PhillypowerLucas Matthysse and Lamont Peterson are working hard for their upcoming match, scheduled to take place on May 18th at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. Peterson (31-1-1, 16 KO’s) vs. Matthysse (33-2, 31 KO’s) will be the Showtime televised fight to Devon Alexander vs. Kell Brook will headline the show. Golden Boy Promotions announced earlier today that Peterson-Matthysse will take place at the catch-weight of 141-pounds, which means Peterson's IBF junior welterweight title, and Matthysse's WBC interim-title, are not at stake.
