  • Why cannot people pronounce "Rigondeaux" correctly?

It is a french name. Even though I don't speak French, I know nobody ever pronounced it right. Everbody says "Rigondiau". Why would even commentators pronounce it in a ridiculous, ****** english way. If I was a commentator, I would make sure I would inform myself how to pronounce that name.
This is how I think it is pronounced correctly (or at least similar):

I could be wrong but I think the fighters tell the HBO crew how they want their name pronounced.

Rigondeau is the correct way of saying it according to Rigo himself.

the name stuff is funny sometimes
sometimes hear Bute as either "Bootay" or "Beautay"
yrs back HBO couldn't figure out how to say Vit's name
Lucas' brother Walter was called "Matthysse"
          Lucas gets called "Matthysse-ay"
why not just abbreviate and call this damn guy "Rigo?"

Rigo said it is said with a Cuban twist. Rigond-ee-ow is correct. The commentators commented on this during the Rigo vs Cordoba broadcast.

I still say Rigon-doh because it rolls off the tongue better.

It's a French name but Rigo grew up in Cuba so his family has probably always pronounced it the Spanish way. And that's probably the way he asked the commentators to pronounce it. You really think living in Cuba Rigo and his family say their name the way the French say it? Get your head out of your azz.

I actually remember Teddy Atlas saying that's how Rigo himself pronounced it. Sounds more natural as Rigondoh, but Rigo himself supposedly told Atlas that its Rigondeeow.
